I searched for this and could not find anything. Does anyone know why Polaris quit making the 700 motor?

Just a guess but probably had something to do with everyone that was getting rid of their 600's wanted the 800 and the 700 models were not selling Too bad was a great motor

I just feel if you were to get rid of just one of the previous 3 engine sizes for the mountain segment it would be the one with the least HP. JMO.

The 700 CFI was a surprisingly strong motor and made the 800 look weak. My 09 700 with nothing more than a pipe and clutching would out-pull a buddies 800 Dragon weekend after weekend, but the 800 is the platform the brands are pushing so they killed the 700 when they went to the Pro.

Glad it was a solid motor at altitude. It was a problem child in the midwest. We saw more blown motors and repeat offenders than you can shake a stick at.

they didn't need to engines with similar power, they needed 2 different, 800 for power, 600 for young people, new riders, ladies ect. 600 is ultra reliable as well and handles better due to less rotating mass

Sundance Mt Lodge Priest Lake ID

I snowcheck a 97 700 and I stomp every body that year the next year every body had one. With pipes it ran strong unionbay heads even better I had no mercy on it road it like a rental had 9000 miles full TISON MOD front to back th tunnel was shot m-10 rails broke bulkhead a little tweeked but that motor still run strong. Parted out the sled sold the motor last year not to often a motor last longer then the sled.

700 RMK Edge 144" 2002

Ran mine 4400 miles and absolutely no repairs, except coolant bottle. Stored in driveway, on trailer in Texas for 5 years, never inside. Polaris cover, outside, trailered at 90-100 for 31 trips of 2500 miles avg. each trip. Outstanding results , couldn't be more pleased. Hauled too.

I had a 700 dragon out did every 800 we went out with even the big cats 1000s
Has 6000km on it never touched the in side yet . Has 140 Psi each side still.
Just keep changing the track to still keep up .

It's likely that with the advent of the 600 H.O. the 700 became redundant. Which is too bad, we still have a 98 700 in the family with 5k on it and it still pulls 130 psi per side. The chassis is coming apart but the motor still runs as well as anything on the snow.

The old 700s were definitely rock solid. Were have a 99 with over 5000 miles on it that still runs like a champ. Nothing ever done to the motor. But like others have said, it's not really necessary to have the 3 motors. With two they are able to put in more time and money in r&d per motor. From what I've heard it looks like that is paying off with this years 800!
