700 rmk

I'm looking at a 02 700 rmk with 2500 miles on it, would this be a reliable sled to get??? what would be some of the wear parts to replace or to check out? and what should i do to tune up the machine to run its best?

One of the best 700 sleds ever built almost no motor problems at all.
The only thing i have found that the water pump should be rebuilt about 4500 miles or so but the motor is great last along time with no issue.
At 2500 the drive clutch should be looked at (spring replaced and new bushings in the weights. Get a good take off team clutch (with more now running the team tied clutch) should be lots of them out there for a good price too.

I've got an '05 700. Additionally, check the motor mounts. I had the front PTO side break, once that happened it started eating belts.

Check ski alignment and grease all the zerks. Spindle area has 2 each, steering post has 2, rear suspension has about 7 if memory serves me good. If you can't squeeze good grease out, break that joint apart and clean it, then regrease.

I've had good luck with mine in 3700 miles.

I always do a compression test when buying a used sled. The last sled I bought the guy said it was running a little rough and needed a tuneup. After doing a compression test I showed him the hole in the mag side piston with a flashlight. The price then went down $500 bucks and I bought it. He had put an SLP pipe on it and never re-jetted it. Be wary of the jetting on a new sled, especially if it's been modified.

btw, I haven't seen a stock 800 that will beat my 02 700 in a 0-60 lake run. You get these things dialed in right and they are a kick!

2500 miles isn't much for that sled. Check the exhaust bellows for cracks or holes, the old style ate them easily and update them to the newer orange ones. Run dino oil, service the clutches. I'd go with a Team liteweight as well with something like a 64/42-.46 helix. I'd also update to the 1115 belt, you'll run it forever!

Alright thanks for the info, is there anything else i should be aware of??? and if i get the sled could someone explain how to take apart the exhaust valve to get to the bellows, like a step to step process and the torque on the bolts.

check the driveshaft bearing on the left side. polaris has always made a great 700 except for 06

x2, might want to also look at the track and see if it has proper tension, new hi-fax are always good. I just bought a 2002 700 with 1700 miles and going through it to ake sure all is well.
