700 RMK

Hi Ladies and Gentlemen, I am considering buying a 700rmk for my 14 year old son. He is a great rider and loves the edge chassis, very skilled on it. I was just wondering if there were was anything I need to know before I buy it for him. Reviews, comments, flaws with the sled anything at all. Thanks in advance.

The 2001 700 RMK is a gen2 not an edge.
It is a good sled still, very tough motor.
I have been seeing allot of the water pump shafts and water pump bearing going out but most of them our high mile sleds.

I LOVE MY 2003! 700 144" I will never sell it even tho i am building a IQR mod. Its the perfect sled with tons of power and handles it well! I am putting a longer track on it this year tho.

oh cool, thanks for the info. My son is a taller one and the stock handle bar height are alittle low for him so that may be a possiability. Thanks again!

I bought a Fly extended brake line and Powermadd throttle cable extension and spliced in 6" pieces of automotive wire to make everything work again but a year later when i went to Pro taper bars i Gutted the bars except the high low beam switch.

I'm 6'5" and ride an '05 700 144". I geared mine down a little to make the belts last a little longer as well as help the low gear crawl. Once it was clutched right and the bars raised, I wouldn't change anything but add a hotdogger.

I came off a '99 700 144" and it felt night and day over that older square GenII style. The '99 had a stiffer paddled track so it felt like it hooked up harder but trenched worse than the '05 with the Series IV track. I like the durability of the Series IV track as I have 3700 miles with no apparent damage.

On the flip side, my wife has an '04 600 144" and it is flat out a kick to ride. I think you would have to look all day for a place the 700 would go that the 600 couldn't. Granted we don't have huge long pulls so the top end power is not that big of an issue.
