700 or 800?

i am thinking of jumping to a gen2 and herd the 800s have crank problems? is this true? is the extra hp worth it to go to the 800 or should i just find a good 700?

The 700 will most likely be more reliable but it uses the same bottom end as the 800 so its eventually gonna break unless you have work done or buy a sled with some $$$ in the motor already. I heard of guys with 800s easily reaching the 6-7000 mile mark without touching the motor. I bought my '01 700 with a rebuilt crank and 1000 miles on "new" top end. Leaned out the mag cylinder last season by accident (absolutely obliterated the cylinder and piston), flushed the bottom end real well and threw a re-nicked cylinder and new oem piston in... engine is still rockin'. You can easily find 7 and 8's completely rebuilt for around 1500 if you look around not to hard.
