7' wide vs 8' wide enclosed trailer?

I'm looking to buy a new 4 place enclosed trailer. After doing a lot of online shopping I have found that I can get a brand new 7 foot wide trailer for much cheaper then a 8 foot wide.. I only haul 3 sleds most of the time, however I do want the option to haul 4 if needed. I have two mtn sleds 153, and a 136 sled for my kid and my buddy rides a 144..

Any pros and cons on both types of trailers would be great. Also brand of trailer you like would be great.

I only have to pull my sleds about 100 miles one way to where I ride most of the time, but I do usually take at least one longer trip each year.

All Aluminum trailer is what I want also.. :yo:

Thanks

I've never had a 7', but when we ride it is usually 3-4 people and space inside becomes a premium for gear, dressing, and especially moving around in the trailer. I can imagine the narrow trailer not fitting my ideals at all.

7's tow unbelievably easy, but as short as your drive is, I'd go 8' wide.

We tow 750 mile minimum. Absolutely a 7' wide!

Trailer

I love my 7 foot wide by 18 not including the v - nose , but I only haul 3 sleds and get dressed mostly when I leave , but then i sled 30 min. from the house . My trailer is alum. and I had the floor linex ed - Only Linex will hold up to the carbides . Floor was o.s.b..like the walls . I love my trailer and a half ton could pull - I choose diesel !

I would suggest like the guy above said. 8' wide is real nice if you are towing short distances. In my case with the drive usually 12-16 hrs one way I will put up with a little less room and having to pull all sleds out of trailer to get the one in the middle out because they are all in a line for the ease of pull and streamline of the 7' wide. I would like a GN trailer but will not go back to the 8' wide trailer so I am just paciently wainting for a company to come thru.:face-icon-small-dis

Have you pulled a gooseneck? I had a 7x29 and now have a 38' gooseneck. In all honesty I think they pull very similar. I do pull with a d-max dually so that might make a difference.

Not sure if your thoughts have any merrit. I think the 7' wide has more room because, Yes, you loose 12" width but you gain several feet of length. Plus when the sleds are loaded they are staggered so you have all the room next to each sled where another sled can't fit to store gear bags, coolers, parts or whatever. Now the gooseneck trailer in the post above is a different story. I'm just comparing a 4 spot trailer 8' wide to a 4 spot trailer 7' wide.

I have a 8 foot wide trailer that is actually a car trailer. Personally I needed a trailer to haul cars from time to time, and the 7' wide would not work for that.

I know the 7' wide tows better, but I just don't see a point in buying a trailer that is only usefull for hauling sleds and quads.

Good luck
