hello i got a 2000 summit 700 that i just blew up the top end this weekend and was looking and saw that 670 pistons have the same bore and 3mm shorter stroke will this work like destroking a V8? (shorter stroke with less rotating mass and small chamber heads to produce more power)
thanks, any helps appreaciated
chris

You need the piston pin height dimension to know if it will work. If they were identical then im sure the part numbers for the pistons would be the same. Oh and on your theory of destroking a v8. Put small chambered heads on the longer stroke and it will make more power.....

670 HO flat top pistons work. Regular 670 domed pistons do not.

Do a search. There have been numerous discussions about this over the years.

ok i found a set of cast aluminum 2 ring 670 pistons with 700 rings and now was wondering if anybody has shaved any off your cylinder head i was thinking .010-.030 of an inch off but i really don't know
thanks for the help
Chris
