650 Husaberg Battery dont last/starts hard

I ride with a buddy who has a 650 berg, and a 450 suzuki. The Berg will only start off the battery about 5 times, then it is done. Brand new battery, and charged correctly. Its the "4" series battery, so not really a starting, but more of a maintaining battery.

Sometimes it seems if its cold or when you stall it, it is a B@## to start, even/especially with the kick.

Is there anyone who has done an "Upgrade" to a bigger battery and/or better charging system to make it easier to start? It is a pain in deeper snow with no balance if your not next to anything to get on and kick it if you know what I mean. We usually try not to stop unless we are at the top of a big hill where it can be "Jump" started on the run down.

Anyone know of a solution?

Sell it and get a different bike.

The electric start almost never worked on my 650 Berg, even when it was warm. I remember on a couple occasions we had to tow that turd almost a mile before it would light up.

ya i have the big bat., big cables, larger starter, works great. also need fcr 41 seduco carb really helps on power. what year does your buddy have? the berg is a race bike you have to maintain them real well. change oil every ride, adj the valves after every 5 ride or 20 hrs which ever comes first. i have an 02 650 berg starts first kick or one the button. but it is easy to drain the bat. if you use the button you have to ride or 30 min to let the bat charge back up. oh ya change your filter after 2 rides. where are ya from

not sur how to post a pic

We are in Juneau A.K. The bike I think is an 08, but could be an 07. Has plenty of power, And I dont think he has done much to it. Why change the oil every ride? That seems a bit excessive? Does the carb upgrade help much with starting, or just power?

What battery and starter are you using? We rode steady for over half hour ea. and stopped a few times in about 3-4 hours, and after about the 4th or 5th time, It wouldnt start. Said its been like that since it was new and is on his 3rd battery. It has low hours on it. Like less than 100. I think it was at 75 or so if I remembered right. And when you say filters, I assume air?

Thanks for the info.

starter is out of an r6 yamaha
bat. is a 170amp
stock is 130amp
do you have the uridium plug that helps
the bat. is the same size just bigger internals
07 08 should have the good fcr carb.

these bikes dont take much oil to fill 1 qt. thats not alot of oil for the 650 motor.

filters i mean oil
