600 ves oil pump question

How do I set the oil pump to ensure I am running hmmmm say 32:1? What is the best way to prime the oil pump? Started my project up last night with premix in the tank but couldn't get the oil pump to pull any oil in the line with me holding the arm open.

Thanks in advance

You can't adjust the oil pumps, that I am aware of. If they are not pulling oil, then they could be broken. Or the rubber drive belt is broken.

Did you bleed the oil pump by loosening the bleed screw until oil flowed out? Just thinking it may be air locked within the pump itself.

With the 600 VES motor, pull the throttle to WOT, Loot at the pump and the line on the pump arm should line up with the line on the casting.

The adjustment is to shorten or lengthen the cable to make the lines line up.

Mike,

I think you mean at idle, not WOT. This is out of the High Performance manual

Oil Pump Bleeding
The oil pump must always be bled following any service to the injector system or engine which allows the loss
of oil and subsequent entrapped air during reassembly.
1. Fill oil reservoir with Polaris injector oil.
2. Loosen brass hex head screw (A). After a short time
oil should flow from beneath the screw head to
indicate the pump is free of air.
3. Tighten bleed bleed screw.

Oil Pump Adjustment - All Models
After the engine RPM and carburetor adjustments have
been made, the oil pump must also be adjusted.
1. With engine shut off and throttle in its idle position,
the pump lever index mark (A) must align with the
pump housing boss index mark (B).
2. Loosen lock nuts on cable housing sleeve and vary
cable housing length as required. NOTE: Verify
that pump lever is actuated upon initial throttle
opening.

Yes that write up is correct. Another way it to let the machine idle as there is little to no oil going through the pump at idle and us a coat hanger or wire to reach down to the pump and pull up the leaver. This will put the pump into full oil position. Still at idle you will notice the smoke comimg from the machine and the oil starting to fowl up the plugs.

When you bleed the pump is that while it is idling or with the sled off? I can't get to the bleeder screw without removing the carbs so I am assuming while the sled is off?? ... I just rebuilt my Edge and need to do this. Running premix now but need to bleed the pump.
