600 to 900/1000 motor swap on zrt chassis?

Had this idea since i blew up my 98 zrt this year. Will a thundercat 1000 (same chassis 96-98) swap straight in? What about the next few years? Was the 900 thundercat a twin? (99-?) Anyone have any input that might help me get some more motor than the 600 w/o alot of custom fabbing? The 600 was good... but as you all know, theres no replacement for displacement! Also had the idea (though small) about swapping out the tub/hood on the 98 and trying the fit on the 99-? ZR? Were the front suspension dimensions the same from, say...96-2000,2001?

all the triple chassis are the same, as far as engine mounting and fit go.
the only thing you need to do is swap the jackshaft from a 800-900 triple into your 600 chassis.
The 600 shaft is shorter, can NOT be used with the 800,900or 1000.


the 3 cast motor mounts form the bigger engine must come with it too.

swap in a 900, it was the best of the 3 engines,

as far as 95-98 vs 99 to 2002 goes, you can NOT swap them around, bulkhead and a arms are different.

Too bad you didnt get this up a week ago, dude I threw out 4 sets of mounts, 6 jackshafts and all the rest you would have needed,

I have mounts and jackshafts for that application laying around and will eventually get scrapped if not used soon. Have lots of motor parts for 900 triple as well.

So, more helpful input? (Spoons already helped quit a bit!) Have 2 complete ZRTs with some good parts and was thinkin... 900 motor, 161" track on vanamburg tunnel, tilt steering post forward a few inches (?), pipes (brand?), airbox or seperate filters (have heard filters are a constant jetting hassel?), boss seat. Just think I could have a pretty good mountain sled for 8,000 to 11,000 elev. on a budget. Yes? Would it be worth it?...

Airbox, simons cpr or psi or black magic pipes. THEY ARE ALL MADE BY JEFF SIMON.

B/M used a 1/2 inch longer header than psi/cpr std pipes. might be better for your use, or add into one of the other brands....

machine .040 from cylinder bases, have heads machined to match and you wil have fun..lots of fun.

i have a complete thundercat 900 1997' with triple pipes, air filters, long track i think it is a 151" or maybey just a 144" finger track, will sell to ya for $900, it should give you every thing you need

I WISH!!! Can build the triple for around 900.00-1200.00. Just need the motor (well the price goes up for the other goodies), but can be built a little at a time. Thanks to my recent divorce... the bank laughed when I applied for the M1000 loan
