Anyone having issues with the 600? My Mother bought one.....got 2 miles down the trail and something went bang. It stopped running. I guess ya could turn the engine back n forth but not full rotation. Sounds like the piston was hitting something. Its sitting apart at the shop right now, and I have not been down there to see what happened to it.

Wanted to know if anyone else has had this or anything else happen to them?

Sorry to hear of the problems. The 600 is one of the best from Polaris. We have a 2012 600 Adventure a few rides in with no problems.:face-icon-small-coo

Polaris issued a TSB for a possible bubble in the oil line on 600 Pro,s. They want us to hold the oil pump arm wide open for at least four minutes at PDI.

big thanks to super Dave for the TSB number
any one w a RMK 600 its SB S-11-04

just talked to my dealer and its a "pre cautionary measure" for Polaris
as mentioned they need to bleed the oil line
my dealer is going to get me in tomorrow and i can wait around for the work to be completed

if you have this sled, get er done!

hopefully they dont give me a hard time about draining out the VES gold for ipone!! LOL!

Bought my wife a 2004 600 RMK in 2006 and it only had 86 miles on it. At 386 miles it had the mag side crank bearing freeze up. It spit bearing parts up and locked the piston similar to what you describe. $600 later it hasn't given a lick of trouble since.

No idea why, I just wonder if the oil used in storage was not keeping a good protection layer on the bearing and let it start to corrode. I'll never know.

last year when we were riding in island park id, my buddy with a 03 vertical escape 800 lost a powervalve and it broke and slid in the cylinder right as the piston was at BDC and when the piston came up it bent the valve and luckily did nothing to the rest of it. Right at start up luckily so it ran for about 3 seconds then quit and same symptoms, can move backwards and fore wards some but not a full revolution.. id pull your valves and check, even if its not the valve shine a light down there and take a look at both sides just to make sure there is nothing in there. (at least that doesn't void warranty for just checking like pulling the head would) good luck hope its nothing major!

The service bulletin applies to any 2012 600 rmk (pro, 144, 155). It only affects the sled if it has under 50 miles. Polaris has found that some have had an air bubble in the line and once it reaches the pump will air lock it. Fix is to let the sled idle and hold the oil pump wide open for 4 minutes.

Ya I read that now. I went in to the shop today and looked at the engine. It seized the piston on the front side. should be fixed tomorrow. They are taking good care of it.

there has been 4 local pro 600's go down in the alpine wy area. all within 2-5 miles.

i heard the same thing about the oil lines.....CHECK THEM OUT GUYS!

150 miles here and going strong I did premix the first tank. These sleds don't use much oil my etec used more oil than this 600 pro. I am starting to pull a chord in the belt and the running boards are weak on these pros Only problem I've had so far.

Don't forget to get some extra spark plugs for after bleeding out the lines! They may easily foul... Also, very easy to do (on 800 anyways). I used a flexible mechanical fingers... Slid it in, grabbed on the oil linkage rod from the top and it pulls up nice and easy. Little tiny air bubbles will pulse towards engine about a 1/4" every couple seconds.
