600 or 800

I'm running out of time for snowcheck, I just can't make up my mind witch motor to get. 600 or 800? Looking at checking the switchback pro-r. Any input would be great

thanks

x2 for th 800. Think of it this way, I Would rather have the extra power and not need it all the time then not have it and wished i had it all the time. As for durability I believe this 800 will stand up there are many people out there that have over 2000 miles on them with no problems at all.

Is the range on the 800 a factor for any of you? I'm reading 8-10 mpg. This isn't very good. Most of you sled in the mountains and there aren't any gas stations up there. Here in the east I sled in northern Ontario. Same thing, no gas stations for miles. I hate having to pack fuel especially when I can use that space to bring something else. Both these sleds top out around the same speed, one gets there a little quicker but not by much. I can see in the powder the 800 would be better. If Polaris would stick the new 600 cfi 2 in the switchbacks and not just the rmk for 2012 it would have made a lot of us swithcback riders happy. Maybe 2013. I don't really want to wait another year.

Cant really compare the Pro's but know from past experience that there is not much difference in mileage from a6 to an 8. In fact in heavy or deep snow the 8 usually got better milage due to the fact that you were in the throttle more on the 6. Whatever your poison though you wont be dissapointed.

I bet a well setup 685 would change the mind of some proud 800 owners. It really depends what you want. I thought about the 600 for the girlfriend and then I would eventually do the 685 kit. I think it would beat the 800 at everything but pure hill climbing. The price difference is only about $1200 so it's tough to justify a 600 over an 800. The stock 600 will likely leave you wanting more power stock, but it has some great potential.
