600 oil pump question

lots of talk on here about turning up oil pumps and guys adding oil to there tanks, is it necessary to turn up the oil pump on a stock 6? if so how much are you guys turning your pump up? or how much are you adding to your tank?

thanks

I say run it as is on the 600 also if you have a 2012 600, make sure the oil line was routed correctly there was a recall on those models, some of them were kinked.

Check fuel/oil ratio when you run it. Adjust accordingly, unless you never plan to own the sled past warranty expiration, if you have one. Shoot for nothing less than 40:1. I run as much oil as possible without fouling plugs or plugging the VES valves routinely. And yes, since the 600 CFI is also included in the EPA emissions stats, they are tuned lean, also. Each sled can be different. Your sled, do what you want. If it's under warranty, a good dealer should support your increasing oil use. After warranty, it's still yours, and any damage is already done.

On the 8, I've run abit less than 100:1 in the tank, 6 ounces of oil every 5 gals of gas, and at least an once per gal. I refill startron bottles with oil and use that to measure if I have to, and it can be carried on the sled. Many rental ops out west add oil to the fuel on the CFIs, even on the 6's, if that means anything to you.

From the factory, my '13 (Pro rmk600) was around 67/1 ratio. I turned up the pump and now around 40-42/1. Don't remember how many turns on the screw, but the scribe marks on the pump are about 1/8" advanced. I don't add to the fuel tank. Really don't know if it's going to last longer, but it can't hurt. Still on original plugs if fouling was an issue.

yeah make sure you've had the recall done if its a 12, mine was using hardly any oil till i had it done, still seems like it burns little oil, I stopped adding Polaris blue to the tank after 500 miles.
