600 CFI-4 Backfire??

My 08 Switchback 600 has started backfiring and stalling when using the PERC Reverse. Backfires at idle down when shifted into reverse and kills the engine..any ideas on what causes this and where to start looking.

Has a MBRP can on it but factory pipe....could it be something simple like throttle cable or NGK plugs??

backfire

how many miles?i would start with the reeds, the tips of them tend to wear off, then the fuel filter.cheers

Does it backfire all the time or only when first started? You need to let the engine and pipe come up to temp before driving or using PERC.

always let warm up to 120 before touching the throttle, but yes seems to to it if using reverse prior to riding anywhere at WOT.....after that seems to be ok.

Like stated above, it doesnt seem to be warmed up enough. Try giving it a little blip of the throttle prior to hitting your reverse button.

running lean, that's the DET flashing. Unplug ethenol wires and install Champion plugs. NGK's run like crap on these.

Probably TPS off, backfiring while try to go into reverse..The ethenol wires are above the belt gaurd toward rear. The black and pink wire,,unpluged while running ethenol gas and plug while using non ethenol gas.

Everybody has given you good advice. I would be trying to figure out what trouble code is flashing and go from there. Try to count the blinks in sequence.

How many miles are on the sled?

Some things that seem to be common not necessarily in this order:

TPS and or connector; out of adjustment
Throttle Body boots delamming/Dirty Throttle bodies
Engine not warm enough
Spark Plugs

Thanks everyone. Great advice, I will start checking things as advised from easiest to hardest and see where we end up, sled has approx 2500 miles on it. It runs great and pulls hard, just these issues have showed up all of a sudden.

DITTO on the NGK PUGS!! and this is also true on all Polaris motors all the way back to when Polaris changed its ignition in the 99, 2000 ERA!! if it calls for champion in the Manual Run Them and no other plug.

:argue:

another thought is the alt setting on the pod???not sure why but this sled has it so pod must have been replaced at some point I am going to check and make sure it is set for 0-1500 ft where i ride.....
