51 bottom gear for RT1000

Though I read where you had a 51 tooth bottom at one time, didn't you mention you tried that on some sled?

I would call Al at Sled Shed as I read he had them. Plus there was post listing another place that has them,, it was specialty sleds or something like that,,,

Nope never tried it just asked about it a few times finally taking the plunge. Ive tried the 20/49 and 19/49. now trying the 19/51 along with a few other things. TurboAl recommends it over 5k ft and im well over that so we will see how it works. Ive PMd him a few times just hasnt gotten back to me yet. sure he will in due time tho. I thought there was somewhere else that had them as well in the states is why i was askin i just cant seem to find out who.

I read this over on Dootalk and thought you had tried the 51 bottom;

First thing first with the Summit 1000. THERMOSTAT. you will not believe the difference with this mod alone. then clutch it and gear it. I ran the 20/49 gearing for awhile, switched to the 19/49 liked it a little better. tried 19/51 WOW Turboal said to go to the 19/51 if only above 8k ft i usualy run 8-10k so a 20/49 might be a better choice for all around riding. Remove the rear cooler and bypass the front one when it starts leakin. Other then that pull the swaybar put in the Bikeman hi alt domes, loose the worthless crap for some lightwieght and have fun. Have had my sled since 05 and still cant find a sled NON boosted to give me a good @SS woopin.

PS, changed my oil tonight and the 15 plate chain has broken plate after 2 seasons,,, also my throttle cable was nearly toast down at the oil pump,,, glad I caught that,, darn sled needing parts after 2500miles :(

Hmm not sure what was going on there. must have been sleepy. Suppose to read TRYING 19/51. Also its above 5kft not 8k. WOW is ment for the Thermostat cuz that turned out to be an amazing mod. And i still must be retarded cuz i dont see the 51T on that website either. Oh well giving TurboAL a call tomorrow and get one coming. Before the snow gets too deep. Also Bank Buster my cable was almost toast at the Oil Pump as well. Another thing to look at is your RAVE cable. I didnt even notice mine was broke untill i pulled it off and there not cheap either like $90 for that cable. I would like to just delete the oil pump and premix my gas but not sure what kind of a pia it will be. Not sure why everyone is going with a 15w chain. I ran the stock one for 1500miles and the last trip broke my chain case so lost all the oil. Said screw it and rode it all day w/o oil about 55miles and still the chain never broke. Now its in the tool box for a spare just incase.

ya, sorry, the 51t is not on their website,,, they say over half their stuff isn't on the website.

I run the 15W only because it should last longer,,, even though this 15W chain broke a plate in about 1000 miles. I'll check the rave cable too, & I should also change the bearing on the jackshaft/clutch side, as it's a little ruff,,, It was nice to be able to spin the shaft without the chain and belt, but too bad the bearing was found to be a tad ruff and "catchy" (LOL).

FYI, MicroBelmont has no stock, but they have made 51s before. I suspect they may have made the one that people are using now,,, Jim said that since these are a special run sprockets that he would need a minimum order of about 25 pcs in order to cover the setup costs/time. Price was estimated at $US 65/e US. So likely best to try to find stock somewhere,,, Ie; though Specialty Sleds as they say they can get them,,,
