509 helmet

509

my buddy has a 509 helmet and the old style sinisters, and the dang things fog up all the time. He went back to wearing an old HJC and wants to sell the 509. It seems like it fogs because of the strap rigger design, the goggles wont sit flush on his face.

I ran the 509 helmet and goggles (aviators) for the last 3 seasons....IME I had to wear the breath box to avoid fogging.

I ran without the breath box that came with it and fogged. Put the breath box in that came with it and have not fogged since.

I run without a breathbox in my 509 w/ both aviators and sinisters. Only fogging I've ever had was at a dead stop after doing something that made me breath really hard, but thats more of my fat *** breathing way too hard than it is the goggles.

If your someone that gets really hot when riding, they might fog. I have sinister goggles and never had any issues unless I'm really working hard to dig out. Great goggles in my book.

has anyone ever fogged up or had any bad experiences with a 509 helmet and goggles and is it necessary to get a breath box for the helmet.

When referring to 509, first and foremost every helmet should come with a Breath Box in the package for free, and secondly, when we see people having issues with the combo it is usually because of having a smaller helmet size. The 509 helmet and goggles were built with each other in mind, so the fit and finish of the package is second to none. The foam was literally designed to fill gaps in the helmet where others failed. With that said, many people simply just do not get there goggles sealed to their face. If the goggle is not sealed, it will not work. One thing that we see all the time, is people trying to combine a balaclava, breathe box, and nose guard ( soft plastic piece on bottom of goggle ) all into one package. This does not work well at all, you end up having three materials all in the same location. It is best to play around with the package, for the riding that you do, and find what works best for YOU. We find that with most of our customers, an awesome balaclava, and then using the nose guard on the goggle is the best solution. The breath box usually ends up being bulky and keeping the goggles from sealing to the face.

With all of this said, not every product is made for every person, there are a ton of good options out there, and we would be happy to set you up, or even just chat about the issues you are seeing. Let us know!
