503 setup

Wondering if other 503 riders would share thier clutch and jetting set-ups with me. Im new to snowhawks and so far am having a blast but am looking to get my 503 setup the best i can. It seems that my hawk maxed out at about 40-45 on the trail and about 35 in the powder. It felt that it wasn't pulling as hard as it could and that it should of had more top end. I rejeted to a 180/170main set up and removed 4 weights each on the clutch per tony's advice as a starting point. Any idea of the fuel economy on the 503 ? Seems it sucked down fuel pretty quick out of my 8.5 gallon tank. I have since ordered a tach to help with tuning and have not had a chance to look at the hawk since i got back so im hoping i get some good advice to take with me out to the garage to work on the hawk.

Thanks again all
Todd

Clutching the 503

I am running 4 discs in my clutch. She will spin up to 7300rpm. As far as jetting talk to Tony or look at past threads.
Heard you were having fun. I am located in Redmond, lets ride sometime.

dont make fun of me!!!

i know for most of you its a dumb question, but what does it do when you take weights out of the clutch? are the specified tools in the manual actually needed to do this or is it easier than the book says. it seems to be the higher the elevation the fewer weights are needed....so if im down low here in buffalo, should i add more weights than it came with? right now my setup is 100%stock...

Pulling the pucks from the primary raises the rpms, its easy to do and no tools required-Buffalo is low elevation so your likely ok with stock weights in the primary.

My question is....I have a cat roller secondary sitting in the shop as well as a P85 from a 500 indy laying around-I know this combo will work on the hawk but have no idea as to where to begin with setup of this combo.I have some 49's for the primary as well as some 51.5's and 53's.The secondary is setup right now with a 44/40 helix and green spring.I recall faintly that the belt needed for this combo was from a mid-late 90's POLARIS(XCR? XLT?) but have yet to find the definitive answer there.

Can someone who is familiar with this setup chime and let me know what worked out for them.Im riding the hawk in N.Wi around 1200 feet and when riding in the UP Im down to 800 or so.

Too many cooks!

40-1, not 32-1, correct it out in your textbooks,
for homework, "learn to ride",

class is over!

who going to try it?

On my '02 I have the stock primary set at -3 disks, one missing from each puck and the secondary set to B-6. For my '03 I keep forgetting to check my P-85 for the spring color and weights. I'm running a team secondary with the 66-40-46 helix and it has a light purple spring. I have another team secondary to try. It has the 68-42-34 and 68-44-32 helix and the red/black spring rated at 140-240 #'s. Haven't had much chance to ride in the last several weeks but maybe this weekend I'll take a ride.
On another note, who's going to try a 550fan in a 503? What about a 440 from a late model sno-x sled? Somebody with more sled skills than I better try it first.

Have been pushing for the 550 within our group some of the 503's they ride are on borrowed time.

I am three quarters towards the 440 liquid application, have 03 engine, electrics, carbs, etc. but seller/Snowest member disregarded to inform me
