500vs 700

I'm in the process of buying a new sled it's between a 2003 Polaris xcsp 500 with a 133.5x1.5 track with 5000 miles on chassis with 500 on new motor and. 1998 xc 700 with a 136x2 track with 2400 original miles sleds are both priced the same, just wandering what you guys think, I rode a 95 Polaris 500 when I was younger and I wanna know if the new 500 is gonna be quite a bit better and faster, I'm just looking for a good trail sled so I don't have to use my rmk anymore let me know what you guys think thanks

We have the 500 XC SP and it's a great sled. Plenty quick and it's nothing like that older non-ves 500 that you remember. In 500 feet it will run with that 700 and handle better. We also had the 98 700 XC; it too is a great sled. That 700 motor is arguably one of the best that Polaris ever produced, although those Keihin carbs leave something to be desired (easily upgradable to Mikuni racks). For a trail sled I personally wouldn't run either of them with a long track. Given your choices I'd go 98 XC700, because it will handle that track better than the 500. If they were both 121" sleds then I'd pick the 500.. Whatever you pick look it over closely...JMHO Good luck

If you like the 500, buy it. Just do not ride the 700 then. Once you ride the 700, the 500 will seem very weak. Two different creatures. Also consider the chassis. The 500 is one generation chassis newer than the 700. I would take the 500 learn to have fun with it.

The Edge chassis will ride better overall, but the 700 has ballz.
