500 summit flooding

A friend has a 1998 summit 500 and it runs good but then dies, we checked the plugs and they were fouled, took the carbs apart and everything looks clean. there is only 2000 miles on it . we closed off the fuel and pulled the rope with the plugs out to get all the fuel out ( which there was lots) then it will start again but only goood for about 2 miles, can anyone help!

Yes float level and make sure that when the float is up where it should be that fuel gets shut off where it enters the bowl. Dino

I bought one new in 98 and had the same problem. Ended up being the float level needed adjusted.
