5" bolt removal from spindle/ski

I am trying to remove the long bolt from ski/spindle. Nut loosens, spindle pivots,, bolt seems seized. Pounded it,,, tried riggin it up in my vice for press out,, doesnt fit well.

Any tricks ?

Scared of heat, with plastic ski and all.

There's a barrel (# 17 below) in there that over time will form a bit of a arc.....mainly just due to extended use and abuse. :)

You just need to use a hammer (careful not to damage spindle) and beat the bolt flat to the spindle, then get a punch and continue to drive it all the way through. It's a b#$%h, but it will come out.

You'll obviously need another spindle bolt and barrel when done.

Got it out,, OMG, pain in Ars..

Wound up opening my vice 1", putting head side thru opening in vice,, and violently whale on it,, crushed nut in no time.. i seen 2mm move,, then just sludged away w/ sludge hammer.
When flush w/ ski,, drilled c'bore divot to place center punch in,,,, after it launched and wound up stuck like a knife in my drywall.. Very dangerous to whale that hard w/ center punch,,, could have wound up in my chest.
So it's out,,, gotta go get new bolt and nut !!

My HRP, Holz spindles will be in mail tomorrow !!

Thx

spindle bolt

I had the same issue. I drilled the bolt from each end with a 1/8 pilot drill about 3/4' deep then drilled with 3/8 drill which allowed me to remove ski.
Then I heated it and it came out. Ground some grooves in the new one to help hold the never sieze in...
