4x4 vans

Anyone have a 4x4 van? I am looking at a '07 E350 Chateau. Only problem is it is a V-10. I had my heart set on a diesel as I have a '01 F350 with a 7.3 powerstroke with over 330,000 miles and that thing has been bullet proof, absolutely no problems. The newer E350's would have the 6.0 powerstroke and I have heard they are no where as good as the 7.3. Anyone have any comments on the 6.0. Anyone have a V-10, are they a good motor and what is the real mileage you may expect? I really want the van to pull a 4 place inline or a 26' 8000# toy hauler outwest quite often. Looked at the duramax in the Chevs. but the vans don't have the Allison trans. and I am told that is a major weak point in the Chevs. They are not real common in Wisconsin and am going to have to travel to get one so if anyone has one I am very interested in doing a deal within the next two weeks.

If you get a 6.0, plan on replacing the head gaskets and adding head studs when you do it. I'm told the van diesels are much easier to access for maintenance (in the super duties, the cab has to be lifted to remove the valve covers).

Dont get an '03 or early '04 6.0 as they had fuel system issues.

Other than that, I love my 6.0. Stock for Stock, WAY more power than the 7.3.

i had an 99 E350 V8 Quigley 4x4 Conversion. It was a blast

The problem with any van is maintenance. They are just harder to work on and around here they charge you extra to work on a van. The 7.3 is def a way better engine. I beleive the first year the 7.3 was in a van was the best.

If i were to buy a 4x4 van today i would buy a Chezy duramax with quigley 4x4 or Ford V10 with a sportsmobile conversion.
