Hate to be a pain in the butt Mike but this is not the part of the forum for selling things. So you opened the can. If a fellow snowest member was trying to sell things in this section he would be told to take it to the swap meet.
I was gonna say this earlier but I figured I had caused enough trouble....but I totally agree. Its one thing to add a plug into an existing thread but to start a thread to sell your product seems like a swapmeet thing to me. And if you put it in here, seems fair for people to debate about the product. I would think that's the true test of your prodiuct, no matter who you are. If you have a good product then it will stand on its own two feet. Did you notice the difference between RKT's post and BMP's posts.....interesting. Let your products speak for themselves.
My personal opinion on this is I would take BMP over RKT, My experiance comes from dealing with both parties and had way better input from Mike than I have from Kelsey, Mike has always been positive and up front with his product, and didnt bash anybody elses product on the market, I have not run either of there cat big bores but have run BMP heads on all my cats, unload at 8500 ft and go up from there.
Now for RKT I made a few calls to kelsey when I had a 08 M1000
for input on his replacement head and all I got was bashing of two top notch companys, Cutlers and SLP, all they sell is junk wont mix with my product, some of the best running sleds I have had have had a combination of parts from BMP, SLP, Cutlers, Speedwerx and I will continue to shop with people that dont bash there competitor.
We did try kelseys on a 07 800 doo motor, when we unboxed the cylinder
the bore was all chewed up from the porting tool running across the nikisil
it was a battle to get him to take care of his screwup.
All I can say from personal experiance is that mike is a standup guy who
backs his product and his customers.
I would say my experiences are opposite. I was considering a pile of mods or a BB800 kit for my m7 and called both of the above companies.
W/ BMP, IMHO, I felt as if I were lumped in with the masses, and prescribed the same "mod ur m7" prescription everyone is given. When I asked questions about elev, clutching, amt of tuning needed, if it was pull and go" set up, all I got was yeah yeah yeah it'll be fine.
When I called RKT, it was different. No, Kelsey didn't ask me how I was doing that day or what the weather was like in Minnesota or how I got into snowmobiling. There wasn't much small talk, but he did ask about where I rode, my level of mechanical ability, etc and gave me two different options based on my $ range, elev needs, and my mech ability(not much but improving). He explained WHY and HOW his mods worked, why certain ideas I had wouldn't work so well. Everytime I talk to Kelsey I learn SOMETHING... I asked him specifically about the differences between his BB and BMP's and HE would only talk about his and why it works. Never got into comparisons.
These are just my experiences and opinions. Take them w/ a grain of salt....speaking of salt...
salt is good on french fries....so is ketchup...i don;t have any rkt stuff but im sure its fine...i do have bmp stuff and i am very very satisfied...a person always has to remember that when you do any performance enhanching that there is careful tuning consideration...and hench if you ain;t careful there is a chance of issues...and often the aftermarket guys take the heat when the owners of the sled should know what kind of meal they are cooking up and...repeat...careful tuning...
As I said earlier, the best set up, the best aftermarket parts are all dependent of the ability of the guy installing and tuning them.
