So I'm hearing the 440 intake cone is 4", only $7, and pops right in. Would this be a worth wild mod for the M-chassis? Having problems bogging in deep over hood snow and figured this might help a tad. Just wondering if any performance would be lost due to loss in intake velocity...

Jordan, is this what you're talking about?

Part# 0770-672
Desc SILENCER,AIR-ASSY USD Price 172.49

This intake costs just as much as a whole bdx intake (same thing basically)

do you have a pic? I've never heard of a different type of intake on a 440, I've got one & the only thing I can think of is this part.

Kaleb it's the actual reducer cone/horn that connects between the accordian rubber and the air box. The part # is 1670-315 off a 2002/2003 440 racer.

This is a common mod up here and we have found no downside. When I did mine I cut the box to fit the tube and then shorten the tube. After that I installed a 4" K&N with a dry sock and eliminated all the under hood junk as well as installed vent screens, side vents and a gauge cage....no bog, no heat issues....I run a 09 HCR some of the 2010 M8 have been gaining 200-300 RPM and have had to through in a couple of grams of weight to get the RPM back down with just the tube.

Sounds interesting. Mind snapping a pic and posting it?

440 Intake Cone

I run one on an 08 M1000, I really didn't seem to find much difference at mid range but a hug difference at WOT. I talked to SLP about it and they said they tested them them with a flow meter and there was no difference between the 4" cone and the stock cone. They also said the 4" cone can negatively affect throttle response because it reduces the air velocity in the intake track. This is where my sled has always been weak.
I just installed the PCV and am gonna jeep the 4" cone on for now but if the throttle response is not where I think it should be, I'm gonna go back to the stock cone. Hope this helps.
