400 sbc vs 454 bbc

Does a 400 sbc (external balance) use the same flywheel/flex plate as a 454(external balance)??

Nope, you have to have a 454 flywheel.

god i'm trying to think, i think there different part numbers but it seemed like when i balanced motors i usually put sbc on big blocks cause there were lighter and then i wouldn't have to drill so much, I really don't remember its been awhile, but either way i know it will bolt up and if your getting balanced anyway it doesn't matter then.

Nope.

I think the SBC uses a 68T flex/fly and a BBC uses a 72T. Some 400's used
the 72 also but they are balanced different than the 454.
