400 Indy wont stay running!

I bought a 1990 400 Indy that has not ran for three years. Buddy just stopped riding it but ran when he stopped. I drained gas tank. Replaced gas lines. Cleaned bowls and main jets on carbs. Will start fine and idle fine. it will run up and down the driveway 2 or 3 times then will start bogging out. If i start messing with the choke you can keep it going and it will come out of it for a little bit then start all over. I also sprayed carb cleaner around the motor where all the seals are and there doesnt seem to be any gaskets or seals leaking. Im stumped on this thing! PLEASE HELP!!!!

To see if you have a fuel pump issue, take the fuel lines off the carbs, put a bucket underneath them, and pull it over 15-20 times. Fuel should come pouring out if you have a functioning pump. If not, the issue may be there. This is what happened with a sled I let sit for 3 years. Otherwise, check the fuel filter (hopefully not in the fuel tank--I hate to replace those). The other thing to do is make sure the pilot jets get blasted out with compressed air. I have had similar "symptoms" from plugged pilot jets. Just remember, gas these days is awful. Shelf life guaranteed at something like 27 days. So if you plan to let a sled sit that long again, head to the airport, get some of the partially leaded 100 (or whatever they have along that line) octane, and dump it in. 5 years from now that stuff will fire right up!

Best of luck!

Make sure if you dont have a vented gas cap, that your vent line is not kinked. I had a friend whos sled would run for a while then die, then after you let it sit it would run. Turned out after I looked at it for hours I figured that was the problem.
