4" or 5" bar riser?

I am thinking of trying some taller than normal bar risers like these, or the ROX 5" risers.

I am 6'2", had 2" risers last year and want something a lot taller.

Has anyone been there, done that, and have some observations to offer.

I will make my own clutch and brake lines, and can get a motion pro throttle cable line 5" longer than stock.

It is a dedicated build so I'm not worried about summer time ergonomics.

Thanks!

Although the ergos are better for standing up, one of our employees who is 6' 8" always ran into his super tall risers would twist and had recuring issues with breaking off the bolt where the risers clamp into the triple clamp. Also, he flipped his throttle tube so the cables came out the bottom to reach and had major issues with the throttle assembly icing up this way. In 2 years of riding his one bike this way, the only issues he ever had were always related to his bar setup.

He ended up just sticking with a higher rise set of bars and was far happier this season.

If your bike has the option of multiple mounts, relocating the bars to the forward most slot seems to help with more cockpit room so your hands aren't by your knees. Also certain oems and fastway pegs have the option of running them down and back which works really nicely as well.

If your 2" risers are the solid non-pivoting kind. Then you could probably get along with say a 2" Rox pivot added to that, and not have them move on you like the really tall pivot risers.

I run a steering dampner with 2" Rox with no trouble for a full season. Total I'm up about 3" over stock. Not enough, but most I can go with stock cables.

Another thing that helps is wider bars.

Thanks for the input so far!

The other idea I had is to buy some 7/8 ktm bar clamps and mount a set of RMK style Pro Taper Snowmobile Bars. I do not know about the sweep and other bar dimensions but that would get rid of a riser all together because of how much taller that style of bars is. I know FLY Racing also makes a bar that is that style.

I cant imagine that going to 7/8" clamps would be too much of a week link.

I have about 6 months to figure it out... Clocks Ticking!

Also look at ATV bars since they tend to be taller than bike bars. Some suppliers also have pit bike bars that may work to gain height while still using stock clamps.

I have a 2" riser on my WR and swear I can feel the flex, but it may just be in my head. I would hesitate to use any more risers just for that reason.

As mentioned, look into bars with different rise, sweep and width. Those, along with your existing 2" riser, may give you what you need. You'll still need different cables (I did the longer motion pros you mentioned on one of my bikes and it worked great).

Most manufacuteres, and some retailers, have the bar charts for each brand and model. Compare them to your existing bars to see what uou gain where. Straight up additional rise is only one part of it. The pullback/sweep and width play a very large part in feel and cockpit room.

I run an under bar stabilizer mount that puts the bars up a ways, then I run oversized atv bars and it sets everything pretty high, I run the lowered and rear moved pegs and everything sits about right. I have run the rox risers and they were pretty good but on a nasty get off I stripped out the bolts and ripped the mounts off the tripples so when I put it all back together I just went this way. I have nothing bad to say about the rox risers they worked cool. I have never ridden a snow bike but am making the plunge this year so I'm not sure it's applicable but with the rox risers when I rolled them forward of the center line of the forks the steering was really heavy and funky.
