new to me 05 rmk 900 needs a new belt (not blown, just worn). Currently has 3211080. Clutch has been previously balanced and aligned. I'd like to replace with a 3211115. This is the belt that the dealer tells me was stock and I wont need to re-shim. All of the searching I've done tells me otherwise. Anyone out there ever been able to run this belt without re-shimming? Trying to ride tomorrow. thanks

paging mountian horse or guidoxpress...........

I'm pretty sure you'll have to re-shim for it, but one of these two would know for sure

I believe the stock belt was the 1080 and then they came out with the 1115 to replace it due to all of the failures. From everything I've read you will need it re-shimmed. Indydan shimmed the brand new clutch that I got with my TM1 so even the new clutches need to be shimmed properly.

Belt to sheave clearance is a bit of a crap shoot, best bet is to install the belt and measure the clearance, then you will know what needs to be done! Lots of clutches come stock way out.

Yes the 1080, and 1115 are slightly different widths, but you wont know whats up til you get some feeler gauges in there!

1115 is wider and will have zero side clearance on a clutch shimmed for an 080.

Not necessarily. I went from a 1080 to a 1115 on my '06 and did not need to reshim. As Danbot said, install the 1115 and check clearance. You may get lucky.

Yup, I did. The clearance was likely too big stock... allowing room for the 1115.

Im leaving for vale in the morning Ken! seeya there?

Unfortunately, not this time. Lots to do at home, then leaving Sat. morning to spend New Years with friends.

Done fishing. Let's go sledding !!

I have another theory on this. The sled had already been shimmed for the 1115 and who ever had it before you through a $60 belt on it rather than giving you the $170 Belt. If not than whoever did the set up work on the sled did a poor job.

Z-Man, my '06 was the same way. I never did check clearance with the original belts, but it was perfect with the 1115.

Sent from my iPhone when I should be sledding.

Same here, including the clutch you sold me Ken, and another that I bought new a year later.

if you put a 1115 belt on and did not need to reshim that your sled was set up wrong for the 080 belt.
