3 year old mx racer

That's great I'm glad to there is people like you keeping the next generation going. MX is kinda of a dying sport around here. You used to be able to not go a summer day without the sound of a 2 stroke pulling a hill, now it's rare to even see a bike around

You should definitely be a proud dad.

Kudos on the safety gear also, may as well teach them to do it right

That Just ROCKS!!

Tell him great job. I miss those days when I was young doing just what he is doing. My girls are more into horses than bikes:face-icon-small-con Maybe they will come around as they age.:face-icon-small-win

AWESOME!!! I have to agree with some of the other post, MX is really hurting. It doesn't help that back when I used to race I could buy a new smoker add suspension, pipe and a few other goodies and still have 75% into it than what it cost now to buy a year old stock thumper (inflation included). Seems like around here all the kids are into it because it's cool and a way to get chicks, they are more worried about how they look than how they ride. If they are not walking around the pits seeing who can act cooler they are on the forums b**ching about track conditions when none of them would bother helping prep the track. We have a handful from the area that are good riders but they race out of town. Back when I was racing and riding we used to get to the track at 9am and we would ride until dark, some days burning 5 gals of pre-mix. We got to the track sat after lunch and usually worked it until midnight, but come race day it was awesome. We had 20-25 A riders, 30+ B riders and it wasn’t out of the ordinary to have 80+ C riders.
Now it’s a few parents that prep the track who have never ridden a dirtbike, they spend about an hour doing it. All the sweet jumps have been pushed down to be “safer” even though they are longer and you have to hit them 3 times as fast to clear them. Come race day the track is a dust bowl and they are lucky to get 20 C riders. Last race I checked the results and there was no A class, 8 B riders and 19 C riders.

Yeah and locally our issue is the older riders are catering to there riding desires and track needs pushing off the needs of the youth.

Theres no reason why a novice class should be last in the moto order when the track is at its worst yet they do i week in and week out....

The sharp lips that are dangerous to the little guys get ignored by the dozer operator who rides bigger bikes. We made our own track specifically because of this and i tell you what it isnt hard to please both!!!! My track kicks *** and anyone that rides it from 50cc to 450, loves it...

If the local tracks only realized how much it matters to invest in the future riders of the sport......

All the bigger bikes get paid out for expert classes and our team of 11 kids gets medals that go around there neck with no custom engraving and if you threw them in a pile you could t tell whos is whos yet we have 500$ in entry fees a weekend...

But we dont do it for the bs, the medals or the glory, its for family fun, and we sure are having a ton of fun with it!!!

The hug pic says it all! I wish my kid would learn to go on two wheels w/o training wheels. I won't let him on the bike until he can pedal his other one. Having a hell of a time with that. But he's absolutely insane on his ATV

MX is still very alive here. But we mostly enjoy 4th gear riding through the trees on a tight, technical single track. Most tracks are overcrowded and generally the daytime temps are too damn hot to be slamming around with no shade.

Cost and quads are to blame. Mainly cost IMO.

And sound issues.

Very cool to see AK!!!
