Mammoth says up to a foot at village today

Snow levels 5000-5500 feet

As you can see the low is staying offshore ... so is most of the moisture.

NWS says today ...

Low pressure near San Francisco (1 am 20 nov) will move across the southern Sierra Nevada today. Snow showers will continue today with the heaviest showers over the higher terrain south of Lake Tahoe. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect across the Tahoe Basin and Mono County until 4pm. Motorists planning to travel over the Sierra today should be prepared for winter driving conditions as chain controls are in effect for most major mountain passes. For the lower valleys in Reno and Carson City, temperatures will remain at or just above freezing with wet road surfaces and little or no accumulation.

All the previous storms (including today 20 nov) are "splitting" and dumping most moisture into the ocean

So the forecasters are predicting the Thanksgiving Day storm and the 28th NOV storm will break apart.

Forecasters are reluctant to make any concrete conclusion about rain/snow amounts/levels beyond 48 hours.

Today I went for a mountain bike ride near Whiskeytown Lake near Redding, CA. At around 2500 feet elevation there was about 2 inches of snow on the ground!

The bike ride was pretty epic going downhill in snow!
