3 RCMP taser a 82 year old on oxygen

I just caught the end of it on the news.

The old guy showed where 3 good size RCMP officers taser'd the senior "THREE" times.

What the h3ll is this world coming too???????

It says he was dilusional when he pulled the knife from his pocket...

Was he in the same state when he got the knife? What's he doing with a knife in the first place? cleaning his fingernails?

He is old enough to know it is wrong to pull a knife, and for him to have one in his posession in a hospital, makes it seem premeditated.

I think it is wrong to tazer someone, especially 3 times, if he has a stapler in his hand, but a knife, well I guess it is a tough call especially if he is an oldtimer.
If I was a cop, I would not want to come home with gashes on my arms, just because someone was old. Guess they shoulda shrinkwrapped the ol bugger.. LOL

There must be more to this story.

Not taking sides since I obviously don't know the whole story, but isn't this the type of situation the tazer is designed for?? When lethal force isn't necessary but it is too dangerous to be in direct contact with the assailant?
It's just a shock, no permanent damage....and even a small cut with a knife can kill, the little tazer burns are nothing. JMO-

My Grandfather is 92 years old and still carries a knife with him everywhere he goes. Even to the hospitals!! So what's so wrong with that? I think those so called PEACE KEEPERS otta be jailed for being so mean to the ol' guy. How would you like to be his age and just out of surgery and have that done to you. You can't tell me that this old guy was really that big of a threat to them.

we also had three Vancouver police officers kill a man last year for waiving a chain on the street. turned out he was mentally challenged.

in the UK cops only carry clubs, they actually train their cops to deal with irrational people without shooting them, go figure... where's the fun?!

they act like their job is so dangerous, there are more electricians dying every year than cops. and we don't get danger pay.

The other headlines could have been "2 police stabbed by old man" or "Old man kills himself with knife" or "Police break 80yr old's arm taking away knife"
How do you expect it to end?
Police dont walk away and let you cool off and they're not psychologist's
What would you say if your nurse wife/daughter got cut up?
There's a place for Taser's, maybe more discretion is needed but if you're waving a knife around in front of the cops you lose, 8 or 80 you lose
The new's always points a finger, how about this "80yr old Dilusional man uninjured in police altercation", after all, that is the end result.

As much as I dislike cops, they do have a job to do. If we take away their authority, and second guess every decision they make with 20/20 hindsight......pretty soon they arent going to be able to do that job. Dont want to get tasered??? Well then dont act aggressively towards a police officer. Simple as that. And getting zapped definitely beats the alternative of getting shot.

I do think that there should be a completely independant organization (outside of the police or rcmp) for investigating alleged police wrong doing though. By investigating thier own misconduct cases I think they lose ALOT of credibility.

sure you guys got lots of crap down there that warrant somebody gettin zapped or shot ....but these tin stars up here are usualy 20 years old just learned to tie their shoes and now they have the experience to deal with people I don't think so......kids now days all need a good kick in the azz......RCMP shouldn't hire anybody under the age of 30 period....
