Want to change out the track on a 14 pro. What needs to be done to do that?

Just change drivers to 7 tooth 3" pitch. You have two types. One, the center drive like Polaris drivers. The other type drives off the track clips. For this type you will have to shorten the rail tips and add an anti-stab. Easy and well worth it.

second what Robbie said...IMO... don't run the center drivers.

Trimming the rails and the anti-stab kit is super simple and straight forward.

As a note: ANY driver change will require that you press on the drivers using a hydraulic press... this is not something that you change without some form of press.

Also at the same time... gives you the opportunity to pull the skid, send in the shocks for service and disassemble the skid to clean and re-grease the pivot shafts... this will make a BIG difference throughout the year... simply pumping new grease in doesn't cut it.

Also, IMO, grease your suspension every 2 or 3 rides... and only use good synthetic grease.

IMO...Send in your shocks for the "TRS treatment" of oil and valving to Rogers.

IMO, good to send in your shocks if they have more than 1 season or 400 miles on them.

the comparative gearing with the 7 tooth will be equivalent to 2.27:1... Ride it and see.

I'd like to see 2.35:1 or greater but there are many out there that are running the stock ratio with the X3 track.... but then again... I prefer lower ratio than stock even on a stock track!

There are plenty of offerings to re-gear a QuickDrive™ PRO.

I just pulled my skid apart adding some aftermarket goodies I laughed reading this
1000 miles of "simply pumping grease in" absolutely zero wear perfect grease covering nothing foreign in there.
Stay up on grease from day one and don't bother pulling your skid apart for no reason other just cause....

I have 2 pros with 3 inch tracks. The 12 has a avid drop chaincase, dropped suspension (part of avid kit) 8 tooth extrovert drivers, and a cut camo extreme.
This setup works great. Gets on top of the snow, suspension lift makes it similar th the Axys. Great setup. Plenty of room. Could still run a 3.2 if I wanted.
The other is a 15. 7 tooth center drive drivers, belt drive, and an x3. Haven't rode it yet. Hope it is as good as the 12.

The setup in the 12 is a lot more money.

I tried to send you a pm, but wouldn't let me send. Send me a pm. I've got new 7t 3.0 avid drivers, anti stab kit and 174" 3" track. All brand new.

Thanks

It's good to hear that your grease pumping since day-one has your suspension perfect inside!

I guess I'll need to be more exact in my comments in the future. :face-icon-small-win

"Simply pumping grease" in will "not cut" it when the grease is already contaminated and wear has already happened... pumping in grease will not clean out the "gunk" satisfactorily.

Many people don't grease them till there is some question... and by that time... the wear and contamination have already happened.

In my experience, the factory also does not always grease the new sleds well...so if it goes very long without a good greasing... you can guess the result.

Polaris has been doing better at greasing them than in the past. All of the new 2015s that I have torn down have been a greasy mess around the shafts/pivots/upper idlers. I used to pump my zerks every other ride back in the day, now my poor Doo skids only have one or two grease points.
Only takes a sec to hit the zerks, and a lot of the time you get a LOT of water out.

So 7 tooth avids will have enough clearance with a 3" track? No drop and roll required?

9174/75 (camo Ext 2.5") ... plenty of clearance and great function with the 7 tooth drivers.

The 7 tooth with the 3"-lug does not have "ideal" clearance..but there are hundreds of happy owners with this combo.
No D&R required.

Scott... care to chime in??

Was going to finish this year on the series 5.1 on my 14 then swap. I'm torn between the 9175 and trying the series 6 though, but sounds like it's still too early to judge the 6.

Everyone talks about clearance between a track and tunnel, but what is optimal? Such a thing as too much? How much before it's no longer beneficial?

Are we able to buy the 155 3" series 7 yet from polaris? There's another option other than the camoplast x3. Mtnhorse do you know?

^Yes, personally just waiting to hear how the track performs before deciding.
It's more expensive but lighter.

Put 43 miles on my 163x3 axys yesterday.

The series 7 hooks up better on hardpack than the 2.4.
Floats better in pow.
Its a total cheater track. Right when you think it's stuck it just climbs back on top of the snow.
Pretty much all around domination. :)

I'm sure the axys has quite a bit to do with that though.

If you are going to go 3", don't forget the about the cat track. On my last 3 sleds I've swapped the stock 5.1 for the cat PC 2.25. IMO, superior in almost very condition to the 5.1. Last year put the PC 2.6 on. Was very happy with it. Some complained of trenching with the 2.6 but I did not have that issue. This year I'm going to have 2 setups. I have the 2.25 with 8 tooth drivers (yes I know this gets into the clearance debate/issue) and will have a second drive shaft with 7 tooth Avid drivers with the center extro for a 3" track. Probably the PC if I'm willing to pay for it. Anyone have a good place to buy them from??
