3 INCH PADDLE

Have a 2012 RMK ASSAULT would like to see if i can get a 3 inch paddle track for out west in the 155 length what parts i need where i can get them i would like to be able to switch the comp track back on to it when i want to and the 3inch would that be an issue?

If you want to swap back and forth...you will need an extra driveshaft with drivers.

the X3 track is a 3" pitch ... your comp track is 2.86" pitch.

You will need at least 7tooth drivers from what I'm told (not run it myslef)

My recommendation is to run a drop and roll from Avid for that track.

.

The 2012 RMK will not clear a 3" with just 7 tooth 3" pitch drivers so I would assume the Assault is the same. I agree with MH, Avid's Billet Chaincase that moves the drive shaft down and back 1" is the preferred method...

You will have to modify the chaincase to in order to clear the track with a 7T driver on a 11/12 Pro (13 with a belt drive drops right in). It makes a tighter radius bend and will rub on it. If you do this, and do the 7T 3.0" pitch drivers, then you will be able to clear up to a 3" paddle track. Many people have done this with success. IMO I don't think a drop and roll is necessary. Like many have said, the "windage" issue with a tighter clearance track isn't as big of a deal as some say. Most of the time if you have lots of room between your track and bulkhead, snow/ice accumulates there and you end up with a similar clearance as a non modified chaincase. Personally, I like the way the pro chassis handles with the stock driveshaft location and rear suspension location. I have heard (not experienced myself) that changing the mounting location has a somewhat ill effect on trenching and overall chassis feel... Plus I don't like dropping that much coin on the avid chaincase :)...

The aggravated look on your riding partners face, it's tough to put a price on that!

Something nobody has mentioned, is that Camoplast does not make a 3" track in 155/156 x 15 wide...it only comes in 16" wide.

So with that in mind, here's your list you were looking for:

*11/12 driveshaft.

*Avid 3.0 pitch 7 tooth drivers.

*Camoplast 9225 Track, 156 x 16 x 3...3.0 pitch. Tracks USA will cut it down to 15" wide for a fee. Tracks USA

*Send your chaincase to Fastrax Motorsports to have it modified to clear the tighter radius of the 7 tooth drivers: 253-848-0908.
FASTRAX WEBSITE

*Wahl Bros Anti Stab Kit: 02-793A Anti Stab Kit: Wahl Bros
This is REQUIRED to run the Anti Ratchet drivers...you'll need to cut the rail ends back to just in front of the stock Limiter Strap holes, and install the Anti Ratchet kit using those holes (you'll be using the Anti Stab shaft for the limiter straps).

I think that's it. Put it all back together and have fun!!

This Website is such a usefull tool

I really appreciate the help.. The web site makes things so much easier to try and put a project together for someone that is young in this game there are just so many people with so much experience and knowledge on here Thanks again

Instead of modding the chaincase, spend that coin on CMX belt drive that also drop and rolls with very little modifications. Then you get the added clearance, a more proficient belt drive, easier to change out tracks in the future, and a better approach angle.

I agree that if money is no object, then a belt drive conversion/chaincase drop and roll would be sweet. What is the cost?? $2000? The C3 Powersports version is $1900 for the Extended Chaincase and their SyncroDrive setup.

The chaincase mod from Fastrax is only $250. THe last time I checked they had one on the shelf for swap (send him your stock chaincase and he sends you the already modded chaincase...no wait time).

Personally, I don't think the difference is worth the extra $1750.

For $1750, I would put that money into engine mods, and gain power and reliability.

Money

Unfortunatly money is not unlimited and it is gonna be on a budget im trying to put the price together so far

Track $1049 plus tax and shipping from tracks usa

Fasttrax chaincase mod $250

Wahl bros anti stab kit $100.00

Not sure where to buy the axle or drivers

I modded my chaincase and installed the 15"x162" 3" paddle CE track

Here's some pics to help illustrate what you've gotta do to make it all work. This is on a 2012 Pro, so I'm not sure how it would work on a 2013. You need to do the anti stab kit if you're going to install the drivers.

I think there isn't any engine mods you could do to gain as much deep deep snow hill climbing ability ... I would even say a big bore won't even come close .

The 3'' paddle track is the best deep snow mode you could do ..IMO

In that post I was only comparing the chaincase mod to the full drop & roll w/new extended chaincase.
