3" Drivers

I am curious if anyone has compared the 8 tooth 3" drivers to the stock 8 tooth 2.86" drivers. How much difference is there in the diameter? I am buying the new camoplast 2 1/2" track and I am going to use the 3" Avid drivers. I know some use the stock drivers but I would rather not have the added resistance however slight it might be. I am curious how much clearance there is with the 8T. Paul at Rooster Built recommends the 7T so that is what I am going to do. I just want to know so I don't constantly second guess myself later.

Has anyone done this?

I have mine out so will try to get a picture up later tonight of the 8 tooth 3 inch pitch and the stock one.
It is hard to see any difference.
I ran the 8 tooth 3 inch pitch with the 2.5 x 174 last year and no problems with hitting anywere.
I might try the 7 tooth this year but not sure yet.

Were you able to 'see' how much clearance you had? I know that it is about impossible to see where the tight areas are. Pictures would be really nice. Would also be nice to see the 7T compared to the stock drivers. I have all this ordered but until Camoplast get them out to the dealers I am just waiting.

If memory serves me, the 3.0 drivers for the Doo's measure around 2.89ish. That's close enough to the stock 2.86's for me and my 3.0 Camo "Cat track". 1100 trouble free miles!!

Trinitypowder you are correct as when i pressed the stock ones off and put them over the new avids and couldn't see much difference i just about put the stock ones back on.

Only reason i put the avids on was that i was that far into it and decided to install the avids as they do hold better but don't think it is needed.
As you have proved.

so what are you guys saying here? you can run a 3" pitch track on the skidoo 2.86 driver without problems? it is only a 0.14 diffrence, not alot considering tracks are not a real accurate thing anyway.

if i remember correctly when the doos first come out some guy where doing this without problems before the drivers come out.

That's a what I'm a saying:face-icon-small-shoI have 1,100 miles on a 156x2.5x15 from an M1000 under my '08 with zero issues. Well, the only issue was the driveshaft recall from Doo, but other than that, you'll be fine with a 3.0 on the 2.86's. Take the money from the driver upgrade and buy belts:face-icon-small-ton

.14" isn't a lot it is just over an 1/8" from one tooth to the next tooth. From what everyone else says that has run stock drivers this isn't a problem. I just want to see what the 8T Avids look like compared to the stock 8T drivers. Like I said I am going to go with the 7T Avids to avoid having the track have to catch up that 1/8" on every tooth. But I might run the stock drivers instead. I am not sure the resistance from running the stock drivers would be much different from the tighter rolling resistance of the smaller 7T Avid drivers.
