3" cut to 2 3/4"

I want to do the same thing to mine but the snow has sucked so bad I kind of figured why bother now. I also thought it might give back some of the handling you loose with the X3. Eric

Not to be a A$$, I just opened this and the wife saw the subject and just laughed her A$$ off, need I say more!

I guess I don't see the humor, please enlighten me.

This was a discussion last spring. The cut on a 2.5" made a difference. There were a lot of questions if I was to do a 3". My 3" still lays on the shop floor. Justin was having scrubbing issues, a foot long on the coolers above the front torque arm. So a trim test was in order. Works great.

Peak

Going to try this on my peak 2.5

8500' = 35 mph

9500' = 32 mph

Edges are kind of torn anyway so shaving down .25 should make it a bit more durable.

You're buying an expensive 3" track to get the benefits of a taller track, then cutting it down 1/4". Some people would find that humorous.

I suppose you are right. But those of us that "spend and test" let you benefit from our findings. Only those changes that excel make it to the forum. Those that fail are hung on the wall as reminders.
But mods done to all kinds of components have benefits. To name a few, Drop in kits, fix kits, suspensions, vents, clutching, etc., etc.

Totally understand. But you asked why so I explained it...

I remember that discussion and was interested in the results.I guess it won't be till next season before this mod can be tested in the powder to see how it performs? I thought there was enough clearance for the X3 with 7 tooth driver. Was it just this sled? Thinkin about puttin one on for next season. If I do then that is something to look out for.:face-icon-small-win Thanks TRS!

We rode yesterday on glare ice to 3' deep. Not powder, but left up to 3' trenches climbing. It seems to let engine temps run a little cooler on the trail. Needs more time, but so far works well. Just over 80 miles on it yesterday.

Thanks for sharing TRS, I can think of more than a couple of reasons to try this with the camo x 3 pitch 3" on a pro, cooling, track speed, sidehills, snow evac, and nothing beats hands on info that's more than internet hype.

Even with the stock track... not enough clearance.

Polaris is finally catching on.

The AXYS PRO has a D&R in the same tunnel... with smaller drivers.

IMO, as I've waxed on before.... "Clearing" and "proper Clearance" are two different things.

Post up some pics if you get a chance Tony.
