I just need a quick answer. I currently have a 2" bar riser and am going to go with a 3" because it just fits me better. The question is: Do I need extended brake and throttle cables? Do in need to remove the rider select to do this? and What brand riser is best?

You can go up to 3" - 4" on your riser w/out having to extend. At 4" you will have to reroute the existing throttle cable and have issues when you bring your rider select to the #1,2 & 3 positions and turning your bars to the max either direction will stretch it and increase your idle speed. (Been there, done that) :)

Get the FBF throttle/oiler cable, it will solve the issue and also protect your motor.

I run a 5" riser and still use the original brake set up, but I use the FBF extended cable

I put a 3" powermadd block on my 06 900 and it was tight, but worked in all RS positions.

I didn't own the sled long after that so I can't say if it was too snug for the long haul...
