What would make my afr on long pulls go from 13.5 last year to 14.5 to 14.9 which I know is not good.. Is this the sign of something... It has the standard push fuel controller ..

fuel filter is usually # 1 cause of this, then fuel pump or regulator,a boost leak can cause this too but it wont build boost then.

Other than adding fuel to fix the lean problem is this is sign something is going wrong in the engine?

Thanks bigfish so if I added fuel via the dobek controller and have it maxed on all settings and it is now running between 13 and 13.6 then does this point to the fuel filter also?

Also would the lead in the race fuel jam up the filter

The engine is fine, was it previously in the 12.0 range and something has now changed or is it brand new and not tuned properly?

A motor will build boost with boost leaks unless your talking about a huuuuuge hole or something. It's like your air compressor will still build pressure with a air hose leak but not if your air hose breaks. Almost every single sled or vehicle is boost leak check has multiple boost leaks fyi. If a person hasn't checked/pressurized their system most likely you have some, but prolly not your problem in this case but need more info.

Thanks when I have it pinned it reaches 10 psi then the gauge bounces... Checking for leaks is next....

Also excuse my ignorance... If there was a leak wouldn't it be running rich because there is not enough air for the fuel provided?

What sled is it? What fuel controller? Is it brand new or this problem just started

It is a push 250 kit on a 2008 nytro with the extra injector. 1500 miles . It has a gems controller from push . I ran it half of last year with no issue. I should be able to run 96 octane but run 100 because it makes me feel better.. I ride 8000 and up ...

If anyone is interested, i'm going to be selling the push upgrade kit. Includes charge tube with extra injector and fuel box. PM if any interest. Its a cheap way to gain a few more HPs..

What boost did yours top out at with the kit?

Does it run good even with bad afrs?

When you say the guage bounces @ 10 psi.. I had a similar issue way back and found the large hose that ties the iac into the inter cooler had fallen off causing a massive leak.. Yes - you will still make boost but the efficiency is way down as the compressor is running beyond it's curve, making a ton of heat.. Also the inter cooler efficiency drops way off (so power is down, and it will seem laggy).. Usually your boost guage tee's into the same lines that the fuel controller references. If this is the case that could explain your afr readings (poor reference pressure).

As a test plug the exhaust, and connect shop air to the intake at 10 psi.. Let your ears guide you from here to the leaks.

Check for moisture in your rising rate regulator (if you have one).. They can freeze off messing with you supply pressure. Usually it's the boost reference line that's the culprit on these

I ran it at 10 pounds in MN without a problem and 12 pounds at elevation. Everything is still on my sled and in working order, I'll be removing the charge tube with extra injector and push's special fuel box this monday. Will be taking a few pictures and listing for sale early next week. Pm with any interest.

Wanted to give everyone a update.... It was a bad sensor.. Replaced it and when from an afr of 16 at idle to 10..... Crazy.... Time to take some fuel away;)
