I finally decided to set down and start reloading .223, lots of spare brass laying around and I just picked up a new baby, I bought a T/C Super 16" .223 barrel with a 2-6x pistol scope and am looking for some loads.
Being a 16" barrel with a 1-12 twist, I'd like to shoot a quicker powder with a lighter bullet. From what I have heard, the slower twists don't like shooting anything much bigger than 50 grain bullets, and since the gun will be used strictly for shooting varmints, I was looking at something like the Hornady 40 grn V-max BT moly coated or maybe a 36 grn Barnes Varmint Grenade.
I'm looking for an ACCURATE load, the lighter bullet will be humming along fast enough that even at 300 yds it will still kill everything I would want to with it!
I looked into some of my old books, but it's hard to find loading data for a 16" barrel so any opinions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
