.22 rifle

I need some suggestions on auto loading .22`s.I have a Ruger 10/22T for the range but want something light for out walking. Also want open sights standard, no scope.I don`t want to spend a fortune on a hunting .22 either.Whats working for you guys?

10/22's are pretty much bulletproof(no pun intended). I looked at the Remington 597's a bit because of there accuracy, but decided on a cz 452 trainer and haven't looked back. It's a bolt action, but does have by far one of the nicest open sights on the market. They have a hooded front sight and a elevation adjustable rear sight. But honestly, I couldn't resist, put a scope on it, and found it to be the most ACCURATE .22 I have ever seen! Everything within 150yds is fair game, even hit a gopher this summer at around 240 yds, with a .22LR!!!!!!

Honestly, our squirrel gun is a cheapy 10/22, and it's awesome. I also bought a Winchester 94/22 lever, and it's a surprisingly nice rifle as well.

ive always had good luck with my good ol' marlin tubefed, hardly ever misses a beat or jams and its very accurate. ive had mine for about ten years now so i couldnt tell you the cost but im pretty sure they're one of the cheaper out there. personally i hate clip fed .22s my dad has the ruger 10/22 and my brother has the remington and there guns seem to jam a ton compared to mine, besides when your out bunny huntin in the winter those clips are a pain to load with cold fingers. my .02

I just picked up a Remington 597 a couple of days ago. Took it out shooting today for the first time and it worked great. It was way more accurate than I thought, and never jammed or anything. The back sight is adjustable for windage and elevation. I got it for $145 brand new, and right now Rem. has a $20 rebate going on that gun too so it was actually $125. A couple of spare 10 rd. mags were 10 bucks each. I put probably 250 or 300 rounds of the Federal bulk stuff from Wal Mart through it and I'm real happy with it.

If ya go the remington 597 route make sure you get the metal sided clips. Plastic ones seem to wear out faster and the cost is the same for the metal ones.

Thanks guys

I don`t want another 10/22 because I plan to trick out the one I have.Kind of been there done that thing.BUT I have been looking strongly at the HENRY .22 lever gun.I do not have any lever guns so I`m thinking it might be fun to learn that system now.Do any of you have any input on HENRY rifles?

Anschutz :) for bolt action in my opinion they cannot be beat. Magnum Reasearch for semi's, but they need more work after you get them, the steel insert is toooooooo small, sell the barrel for $300 and get another made with a bigger insert, works wonders :)

Thanks guys

i bought the henry goldenboy(or whatever the gold plated one is called) with the octagon barrel for my dad for christmas last year. we took it out bunny huntin shortly after christmas and its a pretty fun gun to shoot. expectedly its not as quick as the semi-autos but it can still fling some lead. so far theres been no problems with it and it seems like a pretty good gun.
