20t TOP GEAR

What Do Guys Gain When They Put A 20t On The Top??? Right Now Im Running 19, 43. I Have A 01 800 Zx, With A 155x2.5 And Twin Pipes. The Sled Is 440lbs Full Of Fluids And I Weigh 136lbs. I Like To Boondock In The Winter, And Then Pull Big Hills In The Spring.

Not worth it on a boondocking sled. It would give you more straight away speed, but in a condition where a sled is used at no more than 25 mph most of its life, its useless!

On a sled that lite with a rider that lite.
There could be some track speed to gain.
You want track speed I would try one and see if your sled will pull it with you on it.
It should have more track speed if your weights are correct, keep going up till it drops speed.

Started thinking about this a little bit, have you ever checked to see if your clutches are shifting out all the way? If they are, then you MIGHT gain some but I would keep an eye on belt and clutch temps!

At Wot, Playing In The Powder, You Can Difinitivley See That My Belt If Riding At The Bottom Of My Seconday And At The Very Top Of My Primary. I Clean Them Just About Every Ride Also. I Guess If I Change To A 20t Top, Im Gonna Have To Change Clutching Also????

one thing you gain is better chain/sprocket efficiency, 19 and under top sprokets rob power, chain trying to turn to sharp a corner, in a perfect world you would always go with big top and bigger bottom, but when you are limited by your chain case or chain selection you have to make a compromise, better gear ration or better efficiency. Try both or always wonder.
