2021 Arctic cat 400 cc single cylinder

Look this up, very promising. I believe this will find its way into a production snow bike. Fuel injected c- tek single cylinder 400. I think this will solve the problems Arctic cat had with it's production snow bike.:unsure:

That is definitely the right direction for the engine. However I don’t think the engine was what arctic cat was having problems with. Seemed like they were dealing with things like headlight and brake more than that. Our 450 FI engines work pretty well and are pretty damn reliable.

AC was using a Sherco bike for its factory build. Great that they have a new engine in development but they don't have a bike to put it in??

I had heard emissions were an issue as well, as they had to abide by snowmobile regulations. Something about the brake being on the left side as well? This could have been all rumors, but I think that idea is shelved right now for them. BRC sounds closest to making something turn key, but they don't have interest in doing it themselves. Sounds like they want to produce the powerplant for an OEM.

Maybe I'm part of the minority here, but I actually like the shifting and clutch control of snowbiking. Although it would be cool to have a reliable engine, not that modern 4 strokes aren't but changing oil super often and the cost of them to rebuild when something does go wrong isn't ideal.

So they claming 65hp at 50lbs, A 450 is 50hp at 75lbs I think. I would love to see the motor just dropped right into a bike frame. Then compare the two.

But for cat to come out with something I think it should be a ground up build. No more of this bolt a kit on stuff.

Ground up snowbike would be cool. Snowbikes are still a bit quirky since the bike was never made for the conditions. A ground up frame/tunnel would be lighter as well. Not sure if it would be better to go to CVT or not. that is a lot of debate.

50 is what is often seen at the wheel, OEMs claim in the 60's at the crank on 450's. While we can argue all day about how they got those numbers, since we're comparing against what Cat claims at the crank, we should probably just say they're about equal in power. Plus, since the Cat motor doesn't have a transmission, and that weight most likely isn't even with a primary clutch attached, the weight comparison isn't entirely fair either.
