2020 ktm 300 xcw - newb question - Yeti or Riot

Just picked up a 2020 300 xcw TPI. Have the option to buy a 2019 Yeti mx120 or a 2020 TS Riot LE 120. Is there any significant reason to pursue one over the other? The riot is $1000 more but comes with a trio.

Thanks in advance

A 2019 Yeti 120 would have to be the race kit? 10" wide with short lugs, it won't be much of a mountain kit, so it is really going to depend on how you plan to use it. Racing - the yeti might be a good choice, anything else I'd go with the riot.

Thanks for the quick reply! I just confirmed the track was switched out to the 2 1/2” paddles and is a little over 12” wide. Less than 10 hours on the entire kit. Would this help the yeti?

Can't comment on the Yeti, but the Riot and Trio combo will be great on that bike. The trio will be a good way to go if you like the front fork as-is for summer use and don't wish to play around with different springs/valving/air pro/whatever. Otherwise in stock form you will likely find the fork on your bike VERY soft for snowbike use, and will need/want an alternate solution for that.

The riot just sold :( The yeti is a good deal with super low hours. I won’t be racing, just riding the mountains and hoping the yeti with that track would be good?

Bummer that you missed out on the Riot. To my knowledge, Yeti did not build a 12" wide 120" kit in 2019... So I would be asking more questions. Is it possibly a 2018 kit?

That is a great track upgrade (left) from the original Yeti track (right)
The poster above is correct, they did not have a 12" wide 120 in 2019. You sure its not a 129"? Post a pic from the side, may help us identify it.

Regardless, the track on the left will outclimb a 2020 riot 120 any day of the week in all conditions and will be faster down the trail. Reliability, brakes and fun factor are TBD depending on things.

Here are a few pics of the kit itself. Is it truly a 2019?? Thanks for all the input!

We run a 2018 ss 129 on a yz250… always people say it is so nimble and light…. In the past it’s my sons bike and he is about 140 pounds. I rode it for 2 seasons and I am 220… for sure you have to be surgical if you are in the upper weight but the bike is a blast. I moved to a freeride 129 on a 450 and for my size and skill is more fun overall at the end of the day. At the end of the day you will have fun and will just have to be more aggressive on that set up. It’s a sub 300 pound set up which is light.

The stripe package and shocks say it is a 2018 kit. (I had a 2018 and have a 2019) Still a good package. Two things to do, The first is replace the front suspension arm, the upper shock mount "will" crack! I can get you a picture if you need. Replacement arm will be black paint steel. Second get the brake upgrade kit. The brake will fade and quit.

Both of these might even still be covered under warranty. Other than that, proper setup and check torque on all bolts and the belt! Have fun

Thanks for the information, truly appreciate it!! I ended up getting the 120 Yeti. It literally has less than 10 hours on it and looks brand new. I am swinging by our local yeti dealer to see if he can do the brake recall. I will chat with him about the front suspension arm while there.

Super excited to give it a shot this season :)

Guy tossed in the original new track as well. Anyone want it for cheap

EDIT - you were 100% correct, its a 2018 kit
