2019 Polaris Pro RMK engine temperature

Hi,

I recently bought my first Polaris. The snow conditions were crappy the day I bought it. I hit 190F driving to the good snow, I stopped and let it cool down and found some decent snow in the trees. At what temperature does the warning light come on?

There is no warning light...it will shut itself off around 200 deg.

95 degrees is ideal operating temperature, 160 is when I start actively trying to get snow on the coolers.

Oh so it shuts itself to avoid damage? that's pretty neat. I was worried I may have did some damage when I looked down and saw 190. I saw it at 175 and thought "we're almost at the good stuff!" and kept my eye on it and within a few mins I saw 190 and said ok this is too much now.

Mine hit 185 one morning and it went into a reduced power limp mode.
Didn't shut off though.

Idle = 201° F (94° C)
WOT = 185° F (85° C)
Hot Lamp FLASH Hot Lamp Flashes
Engine Shuts Off
Idle = 215.6° F (102° C)

There is actually an over heat light. The temp indicator will illuminate and flash if idles at 215 (will shut engine off) or 201 wide open throttle.

Thanks guys! Good to know. I looked in the online user manual and didn't find the info.

So, if I hit 190F briefly and shut it off when I noticed it that high, that wouldn't have caused any damage, would it? I am also in break-in.

If you shut it off right away and didn't continuously run it at that temp, you're probably OK.

I'd pack the tunnel with snow, and do what you can to keep it cool though.
Kick snow into the track to keep it lubed
Do you have scratchers?

I saw the trench trick yesterday, I never did that before, pretty cool trick.

I have scratchers, once I put them down it was good! I have a 2018 Freeride and it normally does not get very hot like that, even under low snow so I didn't have them down, I should have. My Freeride is a 146" with 2.5" not a 155 with 2.6" so I am sure that also makes a difference. Also, I heard break-in runs a little hotter as it is set to 87 ethanol and not 91 non-ethanol? I dunno if that's true or not. Either way, once I had scratchers down it was good to go to get to the play spots where the snow was better.
