So I've had my new to me 18 850 with 600 miles on it, stock clutching, and had it out in some deep, pretty heavy snow.
I was only seeing track speeds of 37 to 38 mph. I was getting about 4mph with my 800 etec, with a 163" track.

Don't get me wrong, I love the sled, but I was expecting a little better than 38? Clurches were running around 190 degrees, and when I pushed it for 10 to 15 mutes I saw temp of 230.

So what's everyone seeing for track speed? Sounds like there shouldn't be clutching or gering changes on the 18, stock is good?

Thanks for the replies.

Track speed is "local"
Your sled with you on it will get a different track speed...
...in the Cascades (concrete)
...in Revelstoke
...in Alaska
...in the Uintas
...at Sunlight

Compare to the guy beside you who's willing to take a run beside you or take turns running something check out max out track speed. So that means to check the track speed locally, where you are.

with my kit you would go from 38 to 41 mph then.

I get that, I'd just like a ballpark figure of what guys are seeing. I am probably 190 with gear.

What RPM are you seeing? We had to go to clicker 5 on the 154 with stock clutching to get 8000 RPM, we are seeing track speed around 40 to 44 MPH @ 9500'.
