2018 Speedwerx 800 C-TEC2 Supercharger

We have been hard at work testing the new Speedwerx Supercharger Kit on the 2018 M8000 with the 800 C-TEC2 engine- Jeremy and Ron have been on the snow with Rob Kincaid and Dave McClure putting it through the paces and we're happy to report she's a ripper! Any chance of a price competitive ($4000 range) 190-200hp simplified pump gas kit. These sleds are getting more and more capable that 95% of the people can't out ride 200hp and can't Drop another 8 grand on a $14,000 sled... love my Sidekick on my Axys, would like to ride a new cat with 200hp SC... JMO

We make a premium kit and fully realize it may not be for everyone, but it would be very tough to cut the cost on the Supercharger without compromising quality/reliability/runability. Comparing our Supercharger to an economy turbo kit is sort of apples to oranges- considering the premium turbo kits are currently selling for $6744, we firmly believe our Supercharger is a better value. With its many advantages both as a result of how our kit is designed and the components used, and the inherent advantage the Supercharger has with no lag and less heat being it’s belt driven vs. exhaust pressure driven.

The old saying “reliable, fast, cheap- you can only pick two” rings true here and we chose to pick the first two. We have always used the same basic ProCharger head unit, they are expensive chunk of machined aluminum, but very good quality and are self-contained so you don’t have to plumb in an oiling system or tap into the sled’s cooling- we could maybe source a cheaper imported unit, but that’s not an area where we feel durability can be sacrificed for cost. There are also expensive parts in the Supercharger kit that turbos don’t use like the machined aluminum mount (that also incorporates the recoil housing to lower the head unit on the 18) and the machined aluminum pulleys and cogged belt- if you weld up a cheaper steel mount, it may be prone to breakage or flexing and misalignment which could toss the belt- again, nobody would be pleased with that. The self-contained water-to-air intercooler with its own electric pump is not something you see on most turbos- again more expense, but the additional power and probably more importantly, more consistent day to day running for minimal tuning makes it worthwhile. Our kit also includes a supercharger-specific pipe and a y-pipe- another good chunk of change you do not get with a turbo kit. Long story short, the basic design needs for a Supercharger and our desire to put forth a top quality product means it’s virtually impossible to bring the price point anywhere close to the economy turbo kits.

Lack of competition makes the biggest difference on the price. If 20 companies had a supercharger kit available tomorrow prices on them would fall a couple grand I would bet. Until then the prices are what they are. I have heard there could soon be another player in the supercharger game which will only force everyone to be more competitive price and performance wise. A free market is a great thing.

It's a premium product for very specific buyer; Plain and simple. Just like you can spend 200.00 on a lightweight can for your sled or 500+ for a premium fabricated Ti can. Thankfully as consumers we have these choices!
Supply and demand certainly factors into market pricing as well, I'm just glad we still see a lot of great innovation and aftermarket support for our sleds. I can't imagine the amount of R&D hours and overall costs that go into some of the things we see for our sleds, and let's face it sled sales haven't been exactly stellar as a whole for quite some time. Thanks to Speedwerx and the Aftermarket in general for continuing to push the envelope and bring excitement to this sport!
