2018 Aro gearing and shock

I have done a lot of reading about the gearing for the 18 aro with flipping the chain case gears (about 11% reduction). What I haven't seen is someone talk about putting a 12t (about 7% reduction) on at the same time. Would 18% reduction be WAY too much for a wide ratio transmission? Just a thought, I recently flipped mine and haven't put my 13t sprocket back on since it was too cold to want to ride this weekend.

Now for the second part, I read on a post about moving one of the shocks about 3/4 inch up with a new hole, is that the front or the rear shock on the kit? If it will adjust the approach angle or how the kit handles in snow I am willing to make the measurements and go for it.

Thanks for the input!

Rear shock upper mounting hole needs to be moved up 3/4" in order to reduce ski pressure...this is a change that was intended, but did not make it into production on the 2018 and 2019 Aro's. It was fixed in 2020.

Okay thank you! I will take a look into it.

Does anyone have insight on the gearing? I think a 12t and swapping the kit would result in 18% difference with a wide ration transmission

I rode my 19 Husky FX450 (close ratio mx 5 speed) with the ARO 137 with stock gearing (13T). Didn't like it. In first constantly and in real deep snow it was tall enough that first gear wide open would bog the bike down.

Flipped the gears in the case and it is just about perfect IMO. 2nd is closer to what first was and now I can take off in 2nd most of the time and have first when I need it in real deep stuff or getting going uphill.

With a wide ratio you probably would never use 1st other than loading up or getting unstuck but that should help close the gaps.

I don't think I would like a 12T on mine but have not tried it.
