2017 MC chute climbing build thread

2017 mountain cat 162

Been working on this baddie for a while. I bought it with a shredded motor, figured I'd do the top end and ride it but my money apparently wanted to get spent and now I'm into the modsled territory. Not sure how that happened.

It's my understanding that the m1000 throttlebody is 50mm stock and can be bored out to 56mm? And that the m8000 is 46mm and can be bored to 50mm? I'm also under the assumption that the m1000 tb will fit on the m8 with a little work?

Anybody verify that?

And if I'm correct...does anybody have a spare m1000 throttlebody you'd be willing to part with?

Welp. Got them in the mail today..1200cc at 3 bar but due to pressure differential in the manifold under boost I'll probably allow it to flow 4bar under load. Still waiting on the m1000 throttlebodies to come. I have to call Boyesen to order some rage cages with turbo reeds. Once those are here it's just a matter of heatshielding the tub and putting new sensors in and wiring the ecu up.

Also got my kesterke bars from CFR and the 3.5" riser arriving today.

Will update again soon.

Gotta start a thread about secondary clutches. I've read everything I can and understand how they work, I just don't understand how the helixes and spring play into it or which ones would be best for my application. Something easy to work on on the trail would be ideal and I'll just keep spares in the diddybox.

If you are using a turbo with Rage Cages you will run into grief with the rubber boots and clamps especially with the M1000 size boots. I fought them for a few years and finally milled the inlet flat and matched them to stock intake boots. Worked great after that. Still run that setup on my 2013 175 mod turbo sled.

I appreciate the heads up on that. I spoke to them yesterday on my way out of town. I was curious how well that'd work,.especially woth the 56mm boot they sell. What were they doing that they werent supposed to? Keep am eye put for it.

Boot balloons and breaks stock clamps. I used a full stainless wraparound plumbing clamp and got a full season but rubber still couldn't handle it and split and blew out under clamp.

Oh damn. It'd be my luck it'd shred it at the top of a rowdy climb. I'll talk to them and see if they've done much to change them over the years and if not just make the stock ones work. I knew going into a bored to that there was going to be some finagling to match it all up.

Been riding sleds since kitty cats were a thing but stock always sufficed. Now I want to get myself into some trouble and ended up here so I'm not sure what all I need to watch for. I'll certainly add this to the list. Thanks again spoon.

Boondocker - that's pretty much what I'm noticing. I know to swap that helix it has to come off but was hoping that'd I'd be able to do some form of performance changing work without taking 10 basic tools and a couple long ones strapped to the tunnel.

You guys ever run the team tied driven? I've seen alot of threads and people swearing by them. I'm just not sure how nicely they play with the powerbloc.
