The 600 RMK 144

The only 144 'ish' sled in the RMK lineup.... HMM???

.

The 2017 600 RMK has the following features

600 cleanfire engine

Torsion Spring rear suspension

Front A-arms in mild steel, similar to the previous generation std rmk.

Short spindles similar to the ProRide chassis.

Ski Shock length is shared with the Standard RMK's from the ProRide chassis, 17.5"

Lower Ride height in the front end.

No front bulkhead cooler.

Track is the series-4, 144" x 2" paddle, 2.86" pitch.

Tunnel is deeper, with lower riding running boards... the "Hybrid" design refers to the new extrusion, adapted to the old deep tunnel.

This sled does have the AXYS bulhead and plastics...and incorporates a modified engine strap mounting system as compared to the integral mounts found in the 800 HO.

In general, this sled rides lower in the snow... both with the running boards and the front end.

Probably aimed at the rental market.

Kinda a Frankensled. Rentals and young riders at a price point. It would be interesting to see the market research on this one.

Is there a axys 600 for 2017?

I disint see anything for a axys 600 155. Am I missing something? Thanks

2017 600

There is a 600 Pro RMK 155 with the Axys chassis in the 2017 lineup but nothing with the front cooler.

Mountainhorse is correct about the lack of a front cooler sled in the 2017 offering. The lack of the true Axys in the 144 makes that sled unattractive to me.

I was one of those many that snowchecked a 2015 600 RMK std. with the chaincase, front cooler, etc.

Got a chance to use it in Colorado last week with my 2013 800 Pro RMK.

Hard trails in the morning and it ran right around 123. The 800 had to have both scratchers down and still it might warm up to close to 140 when we were in uphill sections of the trail.

Got back from CO thinking I was going to look for another 600 in the Axys chassis but with a front cooler and the great rear skid from the 155. Unfortunately it's not offered. The 144 features Mountainhorse identified are not what I am interested in purchasing.

I'll wait for 2018 and let my Golden Ticket expire.
About the only feature worth considering for 2017 was the electronic oil pump added to the 600 engine.

Std?

MH, are you hinting at something for the future with this base chassis?

I wonder why Pol made the 6 144 the only std model in the RMK lineup.

I like many others am truly disappointed in the fact Polaris did not offer a 146" Axys RMK. I do not WANT a trail sled aka SBA/RMK 144. The chassis is not my cup of tea, way too heavy, steering is more sit vs stand and seat/tank feels goofy for off trail riding (its wide at the rear). They also missed it with the ski selection and lack of adjustable ski stance on the new SBA.

I was set to go snowcheck a sled Tuesday until I could not find a 146 RMK... Now it looks like I will be building my own.

And before someone comments go get an SKS/RMK 155, I have a 16 Axys 155, and love it and use it out west and in deep snow. I want a shorter length RMK that I can use in the UP of Michigan or for short trail rides with my family as the 155 is too long to be used on the trail.

The plastics are not all shared with the Axys Pro RMK. The lower side panel/belly pan pieces are wider along with the running boards and the footwells. We do NOT want that if Polaris does give us a shorter track 800 RMK for 2018.

Mild steel a-arms... Those could probably be used as replacements for the forged aluminum arms if you bend them. Probably cheaper too

Also, this isn't a mtn sled, it's a Switchback Assault and this sled is amazing for what it's built for.
If I lived anywhere but out west this is the sled I would buy no doubt.
I thought the Switchback Assault was stupid until I spent a weekend in the midwest riding one, they are a blast!

Since when is an RMK sled an on/off trail sled? The 600 RMK is listed in the "deep powder" section. Also, per the Polaris website, it does have an electronic oil pump.

This has the wider, assault front end, too. Even more weird for a non-Assault RMK. Dr. Frankenstein (or is it steeeen) is calling again.

The factory explanation of the target market has got to be interesting.
