2015 SX Kit

I've been asked a lot lately why I ride the SX kit, how it works, etc. So here's my story and review.

Ended up buying a 2014 SX last year because I waited too long and the ST's were sold out and I didn't want a LT. At the time I wasn't sure I even wanted it! It didn't take long before I fell in love with it though. Yes the Hawk track on the 2014 kits was a trencher in powder but you could overcome the trenching by riding harder and faster.

Towards the end of last winter I was lucky enough to spend some time on a 14 SX kit updated with Fox Float suspension, new drivers and a cut down track from a ST kit. Decided within 5 minutes that I needed a 15 SX kit.

Received my 2015 SX a couple of weeks ago, not really knowing what to expect as not a lot of details were released on them but was really impressed with it. Really just wanted the powder track, float suspension and full tunnel.

Things that I didn't expect are just icing on a very good cake.
-New chaincase cover, bolts around the outside.
-Graphics package different from the other kits. It looks great.
-It appears they revised the linkage for the third shock
-Cut-outs everywhere. Looks lighter, and and adds a lot to the appearance.
-There is now a bushing where the kit mounts to the bike, I don't remember this last year. I assume it allows the kit to rotate on the bike easier/smoother.

Ride report:
SUPER plush everywhere. It squats down the the bumps and maintains good contact with the ground. It rolls side to side seamlessly, everyone that road it commented that it feels like a bike with tires on it.

Very impressed and happy. An amazing product from Timbersled.

We'll said Darren. I made the mistake last year of riding an sx kit and now there is one in my garage. I only have one ride on the 15sx but it is amazing. The handling and suspension are amazing (and superior IMO). Do yourself a favor and ride one if given the chance. Let's hear from some sx lt owners.

It sure don't hurt that you've got it mounted up to the best cornering bike made. I rode a sx kit last year and that's what I wanted to get, but got a smokin deal on a '14 st so that's what I'm "stuck" with for a couple seasons.

I haven't spent any time on mine yet, but last year I rode a 15LT kit with a track narrowed to 10.5" for a few hours in very steep techy terrain so I have a really good idea how the track itself works. The footprint is similar to a standard ST track, but it definitely climbs better than a st and hangs right with a standard LT if there is any base even with 2ft of fresh powder. In very deep drier snow it is more like a st, the standard LT is king in really deep fluffy snow. Off trail techy riding the narrow LT was the best hands down, it changed direcrion very quickly, it was very maneuverable, held the steepest side hill lines and felt a lot like a dirt bike. On the trail that was really whooped out the narrow the lt killed it again, it out cornered the full width tracks easily and still spanned the whoops like the lt. We didn't have any sx kits to compare to on that trip though, but I'm assuming the sx lt will be at a whole different level than a regular lt with a narrowed track, this lt did have the float 3 shocks on it as well and they were much nicer than the coils side by side. I knew what I was going to ride this year after that trip and luckily they built it this year so I didn't have to! I still think a sx lt with a 2.3 track would be the best, I plan on doing that at some point this year, the sx has enough clearance. I think that the sx may be the main mountain platform in the future, I can't see why they wouldn't go that direction.

It is amazing how much of the suzuki cornering magic transfers over to the snow. The trail in to the good stuff used to be the worst part of the day, now it's just as much fun as tree riding.

Ah ha ha, I'm glad I'm not the only one. Bought a LT and made the mistake of riding an sx kit at a demo day. Five minutes is all it took and I rode back up to the guy giving demo's and said I need to order one of these.

X3
Threw a leg over an SX last year and bought one a week later. Can't wait to ride my 15' SX kit.

If your an aggressive rider then there is not question the SX kit is for you. The harder you push the SX the more it shines.

Prior to riding an SX last year I thought they were just for racing and not mountain worthy I couldn't have been more wrong.
