2015 RMK 800 w/ Black oily splatter inside bellypan...

Hey guys. I have a 2015 RMK in my garage. Can't wait to ride it! I noticed that there is some black oily splatter all over the bottom of the bellypan. Looks to be under the "y" pipe area. I have not dove to far into the investigation of where this could be coming from but I did check the end of that exhaust valve overflow hose and it was clean. The only time I have run this motor is for two 15 min. heat cycles. I know the dealer said he briefly ran it too and that is it for all I know. Now before I pull the pipe and dig further into this. I thought I would ask here first what you all thought it was and where it may be coming from. Anybody seen this on a brand spankin' new sled before? Thanks!

No worries- it is the donut Y pipeto exhaust that has not sealed up-
I just take the pipe out and clean the pan with brake cleaner- put some high temp (red) silicone on it- let it cure overnight and no more issues-
Generally- when you run the sled long enough it will seal without doing this process i explaned.. remember you have oil in your fuel tank ( or should have from the dealer) so this is a result also-

It will all go away.

How much extra oil should get added to the first tank of fuel. The dealer gave my friend a quart of ves gold and said add all of it. Seems like a lot to me.

Thank you! I'll get er cleaned up and sealed like you mentioned. I just checked a little more and it was coming out right at the bottom of the "Y" pipe and expansion pipe union. Good info SC thanks again!

My dealer said they added oil to my gas tank. Not sure how much thou.

It doesn't get hot enough idling to seal up the exhaust junctions....need to actually ride it.

KC - I'm not 100% sure what the specs are on that, but a whole quart sounds like too much. That's 40:1 or richer in the tank, plus the oil injection (which many dealers are now turning up during PDI). I would think 1/2 of that would be MORE than safe. I can't imagine the fuel injectors want to deal with that much oil.

That sounds excessive. 50 to one is 2.5 ounces to a gallon. That is between 40 and 50 to 1 besides your oil injection. I would say half a quart.

Per the owners manual, dealer, and tag on sled upon pick up Polaris says 16oz to 5 gal of fuel for the first tank. That is 32oz or a quart for a full tank giving a 40:1 ratio. Thats what I went with

correct on the oil added as stated above-^^^^

As a side note:
I went to 2 different dealers yesterday in Utah and Colorado- and asked about turning up the oil a few turns - I have received that they have not been instructed to turn up the oil system on 2014 Holdovers ( new) and ANY of the 2015's
Will it void the warranty? I dunno/ but per my dealer leave it alone- so that makes 3-
I have been sledding 30 years/ and just not screwing with something any longer that 3 dealers now have said Polaris is not asking them to do this.

as to why I am not putting Kelseys pistons in it until next season-
one year will tell if the motor goes south with not enough oil

Ya think they would want us to as they could sell more oil..LOL

TGitt is dead right - per poo, 40:1 first tank. It's insurance for the oil pump not being bled. Bad things happen when a 2S doesn't get any oil.

Up to the owner on oil use. I ride with two poo dealer techs. They have a different view of reality, and their personal sleds are - turned up. FWIW. Not because they were advised to - poo can't do that for EPA reasons - but they fixed their share of CFI2s, in and out of warranty.
