Just came across these...
Sure looks like that backseat just got BIGGER to me!
I sure hope its for real.
Ford needs to step up and offer a bigger cab for the guys in the back seat.

Says the GM salesperson.
Sounds just like my buddy who also sells GM.

I don't know that many people that haul around a lot of people in their truck.

I can't remember the last time I had anyone with me in any of my vehicles other than my wife and my child (and the dog). I wouldn't buy a Mega cab even if GM offered it. At least with the Ford you can get a real bed with it (in 2017), but look how long it is.

And with that said, I'm not buying a truck for my "buddies". Most the time we end up taking multiple vehicles and trailers to ride. Until my friends start making my auto payments they don't get much say in what I buy.

I said i would never have one~ then i got one~ now i won't own anything else~ makes traveling a pleasure and i love the extra storage behind the rear seat~~ and alot smother ride than the reg 4 door type~

i didn't think i would ever use the room of a mega-cab, but going on long trips, it's awesome...i can put everything in the cab, nothing out in the rain....and the ride is soooo much better....mega-cab ford ?....oh yeah..:face-icon-small-hap

So far this season I have only missed 3 weekends out of 16.
We have had a pretty good season all in all.

Of those 13 weekends I am not sure we had more than 2 where we didn't have a 3rd or 4th rider along with us.

For me, if Ford offers a "Mega-Cab" of some sort or another, I would take that option in a HOT SECOND.

Married with 3 of my children still at home, and the biggest trailer in my riding group, I am always the "Designated Driver". So bigger is absolutely better for me!

Have not had anyone in my back seat in five years. Wish Dodge still made the smaller crew cab.

There are certainly uses/applications for everything from reg cabs to megacabs & every configuration in between.
1 or 2 hour rides wouldn't be that big o a deal, but, I'm just saying that 800 miles in the back of a Ford crew is like a limo rode compared toa GM crew.

BTW, doesn't dodge still make the short rear door version?

Have 50,000 miles on my sledding rig, bet there have been 4 or more people in it for 40,000+ of those miles. Daily driver has 70,000 miles, bet there have been people in the backseat for 15,000+ of those miles. yes back seat space matters, and pickups aren't built with enough, it is stupid. STUPID. If your worried about having too much buy a single cab, simple.

And i have liked my Dodge mega cab but if ford came with one i would sure have to take a look~i just had my dodge in for some warranty work only to find out there was a loop hole for them to get out of it~ and we have a ford dealer here offering a bumper to bumper forever warranty as long as you own the vehicle~~ now thats a big plus that desirves taking a look at!

It will be interesting to see what Ford does to the 2016 Super Duty. Time for an update. They did their F-150. GM and Dodge both have, now its Fords turn on the SD.

YA, as I look at those spy photos I see TWO possible options.

It is a more extended rear cab, or they are coming out with a REALLY LONG bed edition of the truck!:face-icon-small-hap

if you look at the bottom picture the door handle is in the normal spot and the covering behind the back window looks like a tent.
this makes me think it's someplace to put an alternative fuel tank or even a secondary diesel tank to extend the driving range, kinda like Dodge did a year or two age.

If you look at the second/third picture down you can see where the cover has sunk into the slot between the bed and the cab, that is where the bed really ends.

you guys need to be more social :)

depends on the season but if we're rzr racing or snowmobiling we typically have a crew of 3-5, occasionally 6. back in 2008 when i was racing DH bikes i put 25k miles on my truck in one summer and we had 6 people in the cab of my truck almost every trip.

i almost got an f150 over the f250 bc of the back seat alone

I am surprised Ford would do that. The Ford crew cabs are the roomiest in the business, and quite frankly I don't see any point at all in the Dodge MegaCab, at least not on the 2010+ trucks.

I test drove a regular crew cab and a mega cab Dodge back to back, and I measured legroom like this: Set the front seat up for me (I'm 6'4"), test drive the truck, then upon returning the truck to the dealer, I hopped in the back seat.

Based on this test, I didn't think the mega cab had appreciably more leg room than the regular cab did, at least not enough to make me want to give up 1-1/2' of bed space for at most maybe 1" of leg room (bare in mind, I'm 6'4").

I've since taken my regular crew cab ram on several 1,000+ mile trips with 3 or 4 adults, on one trip all of which were over 6' .... and nobody ever complained once about the lack of leg room.

...And the Ford crew cabs are basically the same size as the Dodge mega cab as best as I can tell, if not even already a little bigger?
