Anybody know what's up for 14 for the 3/4 - 1 tons diesels? Is anybody doing a major body or chassis change or upping the power on the motors?

Who's got some inside info?

GM will be updating the HD's later in the year. The '14 half tons will be first, then the HD's. From what I've read, there will be an entire new body on the HD existing chassis that was just completely redone in '11.

I asked the sales guy I bought my 13 from to get me the scoop on the 14 GM diesels. I might trade up if they do something cool.

i seen pics of the 14 gm 1/2 tons in a magazine and if i remember right it looked very similar other than front end updates i.e., grille, headlights, etc.. it looked pretty good but nothing real drastic.

edit: just re read the article and it says only 25% commonality to previous years so they musta changed more. just looking at pics it looks like just suttle changes to body lines and fenders. article states a lot of arrowdynamic updates, more windshield rake, 2" more rear seat legroom, ext. cab doors now hinged at front, 5'8" and 6'6" beds now available on crew cabs. we'll have ta see how the hd will differ.

Yeah, the '14 Silverado/Sierra changes big time. I think there is a similar look to the '13 at least for the GMC. But the interior is completely redone. I love my '11 but the dash layout is outdated but still very well setup. Motor displacements are the same but the motors are all new. HD will be interesting but will probably be pricey w/o big incentives or 0% financing.

Ya, I've read up that the 1/2 ton GM stuff is changing some. Just haven't heard anything juicy for the HD's yet. Guess I'm just a junky for something trick and cool to come out. Dreaming of a new body, state of the art interior, pump up the dmax another 50hp. Wishful but fun to think about. I like my 13 so I wont be too bummed if they don't do anything new.

the RAM trucks are going to be very different as well...and now no more ability to tune the cummins :-(

Duramax is currently like that also. Popular tunes like EFI live will probably be a thing of the past in a few years.

The GM's can be tuned very easily. You just can't go back to relying on your warranty when you 1,000HP EFI tune blows your transmission. I was able to tune my 2006 LBZ but haven't touched my 2011 LML because I need that warranty. Good thing the stock HP is great.

This is incorrect. H&S has a offroad tune.

really? show us a link for the dpf delete tune for the 2013 cummins. there isn't one. and there are only a handful of people who have a 2013 3500 with the new aisin trans and disconnecting front axle. but rear wheel dyno tests by h and s with all three stock 13 diesels, the cummins being a 2500 with the old 68rfe did make 20 horse more and nearly60 more lb ft of torque than either of the other two. And everyone on cumminsforum with a 13 is reporting a nice increase in mileage over the 12s. makes me wish I would have held out for a 13, but oh well.

All 2014 GM hd trucks will be just like the 2013. In 2015 the HD will be updated but there is little to no info on the changes. You're going to see similar changes like the 1/2 ton, soft touch, quiet tuning, triple door seals, color touch screen radio (intellink), more refined interior, larger cab, extended cabs will have 4 full doors. Not sure what kind of power train if anything. There is a lot of talk about an 8 speed.

You can expect an early release in 2015, probably July of 2014.

The order guides are out for the 2014 Ford 250 s & 350s no change, but the rumor is 2015 major changes to stay up with the Gmc and chevys changes.

Wonder what's on the horizon for powerplant updates? Seems like Cummins is the only one that has boosted their numbers in the last few years. GM and Ford haven't juiced power that I know of for several years.

Do they really need more power though? 800 ft lbs of torque and 30,000# tow ratings aren't enough?

Ok you're right, we do. Carry on.

IMO they all need to get back to worrying more about mileage than power... Trucks have been getting almost the same economy for the last 20+ years. Take any stock diesel truck from the early 90s and compare the fuel mileage to today's stock offerings and I don't see them being much different. The only thing that has really changed in that regard is emissions - they do run a hell of a lot cleaner than they used to.

They produce a lot more power stock to stock as well.

Rumor mill has GM offering their NEW 6.2l LS3 motor the the 3/4 ton. This is the same motor that is in the 2014 corvette stingray. Just got sae verified at 455 horsepower and 460 ft-lbs of torque. Doubtful the 3/4 ton will get the full power. Probably more like 430 and 430 for power and torque.

This motor is 99.99% different than the old 6.2 that GM offers in their half ton now. 3 bolts carry over.
